Do you feel that your wardrobe is totally bloated and you constantly cannot find what you want in there? Here are some tips to easily remove the clutter and create space!
Does your wardrobe look like this?
Get rid of unused stuff
It’s time to weed out stuff you no longer wear. Be ruthless in discarding clothes that no longer fit or are out of style. Unless a particular piece of clothing holds great sentimental value, keeping only the stuff you wear will ensure that your wardrobe truly reflects the your current image.
Regularly used items should be shelved near eye level.
Allocate areas
Organise your clothings into three categories: “Frequent” and “Less Frequent” and “Occasionally”. Clothings that you wear on a frequent or daily basis should be placed within super easy reach - either right at the opening of the wardrobe doors or on shelves near or slightly below eye-level.
Less frequently used items can be put further away from the opening of the wardrobe doors or on top or bottom shelves. The things that you use only occasionally can be stored in the far or out of reach corners.
You want to find work clothes fast and easy.
Switch to slimmer hangers
Just simply switching to slimmer hangers will increase your wardrobe space significantly. The next time you go shopping, keep an eye out for those remarkably skinny or thin hangers.
Use the inside of wardrobe doors
Very often, the inside of our wardrobe doors are left empty and not utilised. You can easily install a couple of small rods on each door and hang belts, ties and scarves on them.
Use storage trays and boxes
Employ the use of jewellery storage trays for jewellery or watches or small items that gets jumbled up. These little trays will prove helpful over the long run, ensuring that you don’t have to constantly rummage through piles of stuff to find something.
Similarly, storage boxes (especially shoe boxes) are great for neatly separating stuff or categorising items neatly. If you can’t remember what you put in certain boxes, label the boxes.
Jewellery boxes and trays are useful in organising jewellery.
Store elsewhere
An oft-forgotten storage area is empty suitcases or travel bags. These areas are especially good for keeping seasonal clothes that you wear only while travelling.
Also, be adventurous in sourcing other storage areas at home such as the kitchen cabinets or below the bed. Stuff you hardly wear during the year can be packed away from your wardrobe.
Utilise empty suitcases as storage space.
Regular pruning
Having done all the above, it is useful to remind yourself to trim your wardrobe regularly for maximum efficient use. Ideally, your wardrobe should contain only frequently worn items during the year. The rest can be stowed away in other corners of the house.
