It may be the tiniest living space in an apartment, but the bathroom ranks as one of the most used for rather obvious reasons.
Who’s to say you have to compromise style to get your washing room functioning at its optimal? Here are some ideas you can use to conquer the challenge of space constraints.
1. Mirror, mirror on the wall
Mirrors are long renowned for their prowess to optically open up a tiny space. Don’t just stick to these. We suggest going a step further by tiling an entire wall with mirrors or adorning your washing room with reflective surfaces like frames to add instant drama and depth.
2. Keep them exposed
Exposed pipes may seem unwieldy and less than pleasing to the eye. Instead of covering them up, swathe them in a coat of black paint to inject an industrial styled vibe in your washroom. Go for a pop of pink if a dusky palette is not your style.
3. Opening act
If you’ve always desired a first-class hotel experience for your bedroom, then now’s the time. Glass doors and walls let light in and magically enlarge a tiny bathroom. No holds barred because after all, it’s just between the two of you, lovebirds.
4. Analyse and review
It helps to take a step back, and think of how each element within the space interacts with one another, and whether any is occupying more space than required. For example, replacing the vanity with a pedestal sink might remove the feeling of clutter.
5. Wide and Bright
Paler colours reflect natural light well, tricking the eye into seeing a larger space. While the obvious solution is to clad your bathroom in lighter shades, we suggest fixing subway tiles. They are low on maintenance and is visually arresting as opposed to a block of white-painted wall.
