T8 Magnetic Ballast to T5 Electronics Ballast Conversion

Hi Mace, need your wise advice on T8 MB to T5 EB conversion for my home:

I have 6 x 4ft T8 Tubes (Magnetic Ballast) and 1 x 3ft T8 Tube (Magnetic Ballast) which I want to convert to T5. Would you be able to advise what I would need to do the conversion on my own?

Would the T5 tubes be able to fit the T8 fluorescent tube holders?

Is there such thing as warm light for T5 tubes?

I can purchase the Electronics ballast from Choo Chiang but where do I get the T5 tubes?

Thanks in advance

Would the T5 tubes be able to fit the T8 fluorescent tube holders?

nope - T5 tubes can only fit into T5 holders.

choo chiang might have the holders.

I bought mine from sim lim tower 2nd/3rd floor - a shop that sells lots of bulbs. not difficult to find.

Is there such thing as warm light for T5 tubes?

yes. T5 got more colours than T8, if you ask those pple who have marine fishes.

Thanks for the tip Bro Mace! I took the plunge and tried to retrofit my magnetic ballasts to electronic ones. Managed to finish 3 out of the 7 tubes I set out to do (had to rush it while kids were asleep) :)

Faced a problem with one of the tubes; it turns off after about 30 mins continuous use. Any ideas why this happens? Is it because of overheating? What can I do to rectify this?

you mean it auto switch OFF? did the circuit breaker trip?

might be a faulty ballast.
