I just got one quotation from one famous contractor in this forum, i want to share it with all u guys and your comments will be much appreciated. As a layman, my "instinct" told me it's high.

FYI pls, my flat, around 8yrs, 126m2

General works

1. discard existing living and dining room simple cornice $100

2. remove existing living and dining wooden chair rail and wall paper $80

3. clear debris off site $120

4. chemical washing whole unit $150

Plumbing works

1. rerun whole unit cold water s/steel piping $580

2. labour fee to install common toilet wash basin $60

3. labour fee to install 2 set WC bowl $180

4. labour fee to install 2 set instant water heaters $120

5. labour fee to install 2 set toilet accessories $60

Door

1. Fabricate and install kitchen entrance timber/tempered glass swing or bi-fold door $680

2. fabricate and install 2 set top track alum bi-fold toilet doors $520

Fiber board works

1. construct dining room fiber board false ceiling $200

2. construct living room fiber board L box lighting pelmet $450

Planting works

1. apply 1 layer oil base prime sealer for fiber board and whole unit ceiling $250

2. supply and paint whole unit wall and ceiling (ICI/NIPPON) emulsion paint $1350

3. supply and paint whole unit door frames, gate and all piping in gloss paint $150

4. supply labor and material to seal up wall cap $150

Carpentry works

1. fabricate and install 8ft full height master room laminate casement door wardrobe c/w ABS trimming and handles(Height 2800mm) $2000

Electrical Works

1. Ext 14 nos 5Amp lighting point $420

2. labor fee to install 25 set lighting fitting $250

Total $7870.

Normally, how much discount can I ask?

wah your ceiling very high leh

my current flat is only 2.5 and new place 2.62m nia

find that the price is reasonable though not terribly cheap or expensive

more of whether you feel comfortable with this contractor and if you are satisfied with the workmanship

The first one quoted me very high.

And I move on and on and on until I notice the range.

ONly then you will know who charge more.

As you move along, you will tends to learn more (by asking them questions), and tends to make changes as you go along.

So far, only 5 give me quotation, the rest seem like missing in action!
