rolexboy 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 (edited) Insulation using 3/8 inch armaflex..there will be additional $180 to upgrade to 1/2 inch pipe is guage 23. Price 2155 nett inclusive of stainless steel bracket. Daikin system 3 non inverter. Thinking of should i upgrade to 1/2 inch.. since i am using a non-inverter..R22 refrigarant.. using 3/8 inch shd be enough right?? 1/2 inch very fat.. the trucking will be quite ugly... how how? I upgraded armflxto to 0.5inch and pipe from copper 23 to 22… Dunno if trucking is consider thicker than normal, but it seems okie to me.. Maybe I can take some pics on the trucking.. try to upload next week.. Btw, I bot non-inverter Sanyo sys3 from gaincity and opt for 5yr warranty, upgrade pipe and insulator at S$2329. I thin air con should go for better piping and insulator… dunnno after using 1-2 yrs start leaking here and there… will be troublesome lo.. Anyway, u take ur time to choose here'r some pics of the trucking. Aircon trucking I have upgraded pipe and insulator and this is the trucking. It seems okie to me, dun see too “thick” My ID suggested having the trucking “run” below the window grills. And the result looks good to me.. The workmanship from aircon guys is quite good. Not much gap between the trucking and the touch up is nicely done. I din do up the little carpentry for the little recess below the window… Edited June 1, 2009 by rolexboy

Hi Poseidon_gal, I refer to Daikin website and I don't see Nation Cool as their dealer. Since Daikin air con is having promo of 2 years warranty now, will you be getting the promo of 2 years from Nation Cool? I also thinking of getting Daikin non-inverter. simpleguy80 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Last mth bought a Sys 3 non inverter, Toshiba model #RAS-3M20S2AX / RAS-M10SKPX for the indoor unit and outdoor unit. Nett price is $1870 which includes installation, metal bracket, trunking, armaflex insulation and free one time service before 1yr. Personally aft looking at NEA website on no of ticks, this 3 ticks non inverter cost savings is not too far off from a 4 ticks inverter, but to get a good inverter aircon, you need to pay alot outstripping any cost savings u intend to have. Do u have 5 yr warranty on ur aircon?
ncy 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 Hi simpleguy80, good question, I am not sure of how many yrs warranty I am getting because I still have a stack of warranty cards for most of my electrical appliances still there in my file...hahaha. But I guess I am not getting any addtional warranty from Toshiba. If its 1 yr, guess I am enjoying only 1 yr.

adrian_john 1 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 Just to share with all, also to Firestarter, this may give you an indication of the pricing. Went down to GC at AMK Ind Park II on Sunday to enquire about possible air-con combos. Since we have 4 bedrooms and also looking to have an A/C unit at the Living/Dining, the GC staff suggested to us the following options best suited to our needs: (a) Hitachi - System 3 and System 2 Inverter Combo - 3 X RAK25N5 : $2,699 - 1 X RAK25, 1 X RAK50: $2,229 - Upgrade insulation for both: $300 - Extended Warranty: $359 each. - 2 X Installation Surcharge: $85. (b) Mitsubishi Electric - System 4 Inverter and System 1 Non-Inverter Combo - System 4 MXY 4A28VA: $3,659 - System 1 MUAD18VA (18000 btu): $1,249 - Upgrade insulation for both: $300 - Extended Warranty: $359 each. - 2 X Installation Surcharge: $85. Still debating about whether to just live with a System 4 for just the rooms and leave the A/C out of the Living/Dining. The more frequently used A/Cs will be at most for 2 or 3 rooms; while the A/C will probably be the least used except in time of really warm heat waves like the past week. If your unit can support 2 compressors, suggest you have A/C at the living as well - there's where all your entertainment system is and there are days you'll just need it. Since the consumption is not frequent, you can consider using non inverter. The below is my A/C combination: 1. Mitsubshi Heavy Industry System 3 Inverter (12K, 9K and 9K) for the 3 rooms 2. Mitsubshi Heavy Industry Single Split Non Inverter (24K) for the living/dining Copper upgraded to 23 Insulation upgraded to Armaflex Class 0 Total damage is $4.4k For system 4, I came to learn the following: 1. The window where the aircon ledge is may not be big enough to have the big compressor go through 2. The current supply may not maximize the full power of the compressor 3. When living/dining A/C is turn on, you can probably only turn one more air con for the room - you can't turn 2/3 rooms + living A/C together as it won't be cold enough My 2 cents sharing Edited June 2, 2009 by streamrsz

Really useful to consider. Your combo looks pretty good. I'm just wondering how to deal with the 4 bedrooms for mine. Not sure if having a System 4 and a Single Split would work better or a System 3 and System 2 (with 1 larger A/C unit for Living/Dining). Would you happen to know what's the biggest capacity compressor for a System 4? Is it 28000Btu? BTW, off-topic abit, noticed your nick and was just wondering if you were on the Stream Forum as well? abba 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2009 hi, went down to GC to check out Mitsubishi Elec. Starmex Sys3 inverter MXY-3A28VA was told that i cant reuse my existing metal bracket.. is it true that the bracket is different for different outdoor unit? did anyone buy this combo (MSXY-GA13VA + 2x MSXY-GA10VA) recently? how much is the total damage? anybody had experience in changing/installing aircon while living inside? how to minimize the mess and dirt? peterlim 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2009 Hi there, this is my first post I realised that many of you purchased your aircons from aircon specialist shops. What about Courts, Carrefour or Fairprice Extra? Do these stores provide reasonable pricing and good installation services? Any bad experiences with these stores? I am planning to get a multi-split soon so looking for some guidance here.

I almost got a System 4 with 12, 9 , 9, 22 combination and I believe the compressor was 32K btu - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. My view on 4 bedroom apt, I might opt for System 3 and System 2. Ideally the living should have at least 22k btu. Yupe I'm in SSOG and RSeries. Are you there as well?
