Fred 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 hi guess the location played a big partthe flat i was bioing was right above chinatown mrt maybe you want to consider going for a contractorthe only difference between an ID and a contractor is one do design and the other don'tthe cordination, the advice of practicality is all thereme went for contractor coz i want my home to be exactly the way i want it, and not something that 'someone' copied from magazines if you dun mind, maybe you can share some details on the occupant of this flat i.e. age and relationship so that we can give you some suggestions The current occupant is staying with wife with 2 kids plus sister & mother. The man is of age 40. The flat is around 30 yrs. No experience in dealing with contractor, and do not know what will be diff in terms of cost between a ID & contractor. Any good recommendation for contractor ?
Fred 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Hmm I am currently sourcing for Di for my 3rm reno....really depends on what you want to do.If change all floorings, hacking, rewiring and carpentry like kitchen, wardobe, console ....with your floor area....40k dont looks promising....if got ID quote you that or lower you also have to be careful.Enjoy...its tiring really. I dont know about you , I am all alone in the process, so mentally and physically tired.CheersMy inital thoughts :1)Laminate flooring for all bdrms. Considering chging tiles for living area if budget allow if not also laminate for living area.2)Chg tiles for kitchen - both for wall & floor. 3)The bathroom is seperated form the WC area, intend to hack & convert into 1. Chg all tiles for wall & kitchen. Not too sure if can overlay.4)Chg all piping & wiring for whole hse.5)Chg all bdrms doors, grille.6)Hack away wall between kitchen & living hall for both unit.7)False ceiling for living area.I am aware that it will be tiring as aready been through 2 hse. bitchy_bride 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Talking ab hot location. My hub gt a 30 yrs 1+1 room unit. During that time his mum bought at 9K for a 1 room flat. Then it was upgraded to 1+1 unit. When I ask them how much the house can sell, he say around 10K+. FYI, his house is at chinatown area. In between chinatown and Roberston Quay/Mohd Sultan. I find his house location very good. Go where also very convienent. Another few months time, he is going to moved out with his mum and the house will be empty. We are intending to rent the house out so that his mum would hv extra $$ to spent for herself (she a widow and retired just this yr). I did ask my agent how much can we rent the house out, he say around $800-$1K depending. Is it abit too much for the price? Noted that the house is already 30 yrs old. But location is very good. I hear from my hub, he say gt ang mo stay around his blk.

Any good recommendation for contractor ?this current occupant is you and family right?find that IDs are usually more costly than contractors coz they factor the design fees into the quote (although it's stated as FOC ) for exactly the same itemsmaybe you want to post your floor plan for us to firstthen we can suggest based on that
