yoongf 11 Report post Posted August 21, 2007 IRAS just informed me over the phone that this is valid for owner occupied propertiesok.. owner occupied properties can qualify under the following cluase...b) undergoing repairs (repairs do not include renovations, alterations, improvements and additions) to make it fit for occupation.But bear in mind that to qualify under this cluase, need to be like those landslide cases, MRT cracking case or kena gas blast case. l_club23 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2007 (edited) yes i knowso for 1 cannot coz we paying owner-occupied tax-rateand 2 also cannot coz renovation not counted.the email reply was that the building has to be certified unsafe for human occupation then can claimso even if it's under going major upgrading also cannot coz i tried to claim 'vacant' due to hdb rectification but they say cannot Hmmm... I seriously dunno. The officer advised that all I require is a letter from my developer stating they are carrying our rectifications in my unit. We are all paying Normal Rates as Singaporean right?For Singapore Citizens who don't fall under the criteria below, pays the Reduced Rates lah.Note: (1) The rates specified under the heading "Normal rate" for items 1 to 5 shall apply to a flat --a) where none of the owners or tenants and none of the authorised occupiers of the flat are citizens of Singapore;b) where --(i) in the case of a flat sold by the Board -- any owner or essential occupier of the flat; or(ii) in the case of a flat let out by the Board -any tenant or authorised occupier of the flat,has an interest in any residential property not owned by or vested in the Board, or in any industrial or commercial property, whether or not owned by or vested in the Board;c) which is owned by or let to any body corporate; ord) which is vacant.(2) The rates specified under the heading "Reduced rate" for items 1 to 5 shall apply to all other flats.(3) In paragraph (1) --"authorised occupier" has the same meaning as in the Housing and Development Act (Cap. 129);"essential occupier", in relation to a flat sold by the Board, means any authorised occupier of the flat who, together with any lessee or other authorised occupier of the flat, will form the necessary family or social nucleus to qualify the lessee to purchase or to continue to own the flat;"tenant" means any tenant of the Board with respect to an entire flat. End-up loss out of benefits from govt. Seems to be the big loser. The SS is meant for the outside of the house, size of flat shouldn't matter.
