Surge 1 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 Hi I have a Samsung HTS(HT-TQ22) that was a free gift with purchase of LCD TV.http://www.samsung.com/sg/products/audio/h...tem/ht_tq22.aspAs the 2 rear speakers have to mounted to the ceiling opposite the TV, therefore must lay the speaker cables from the player, across the false ceiling to the rear speakers. As I have not recieved the HTS yet (thanks to Morris, who keep saying no stock) , I am not sure what sort of speaker cables the HTS usesMy id say need about 40meters. Need to get fast because the electrician will conceal all the wiring..Can any kind soul please advise on-what sort of cables to buy and where to buy them.-does the TQ22 cables come with plugs or are they just open ended (no plug just plug the copper in)Thank you

MaCe 3 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 Any particular shop to recommend?all about the same price - cos for HTS, you dont need expensive cables.dont believe me, go bestdenki and look at all those HTS systems, everything looks exp on the outside, but all comes with cheapo cables.unless you are setting up the JBL $10k HTS in your house, then perhaps you might want to consider kimberkable or QED in adelphi. MaCe 3 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 Are QED cables very good? The $3/meter one I saw in SimLim was QED cablesthe $3 ones just slightly better than those 80 cents one. Moreover you can only tell the difference if you play music, not HTS. Especially when you are using them for the surround speakers, it's like "HERO no ground to use" situation, even if you go for the $70 per m silver spiral, you still get the same effect.HTS doesnt require tip top speaker cables, music does, but then HTS's speakers(any HTS below $2k) are too inferior to play good music, except for those hi-end more than $5k yamahas....even then it's for the front speakers nia not surround.dont waste your money, I rather you save that $ and invest in a true audiophile system and by then you would even think those $70 per m cables are too cheapo for you cos you want those $300 per m one liao. lifestyle 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) Agree with MaCe. He gave a lot of good points already. Totally agree that no need to spent so much on a HT cable (especially for the rear surround speaker). Less than $3/m is very good already. I have some Balden cables (retail around $2/m) for sale to meet your required length. PM me if you are interested in it.I just sourced my cables yesterday as currently doing electrical wiring or my place. Got myself QED Micro for the rear speakers. It retail around $3.50-4.50/m (I paid around $4/m for the QED micro at a shop in Adelphi cos the salesman let me test the cable to hear the differences first before i bought from him...so a very good service in that respect). You do hear the difference for music between the good speaker cable (eg QED $10-14 range) & the stock speaker that come with the HTIB...but the cost of good cables sometime does not warrant the investment unless you are the audoiphile person....which usually ave expensive HT systems. The front speakers + centre speaker (most important as this is the vocal) you can spent a bit more on cables if your budget allow but not neccessary for HTIB. Recommend to use around the same length (preferably 2m min) for all front cables. Got a QED Silver Anniverary XT speaker cable with 4.5mm banana plugs for my front speakers. Most people suggest that you spent around 10% of expensive HT system on cables. Even less for the HTIB type. Are QED cables very good? The $3/meter one I saw in SimLim was QED cablesQED cables got a very good reputation especially in UK and some popular magazine reviews. There are many range of QED cables. Not sure which type that you saw for the $3/m? Is it the QED Micro..the slim type? Surge 1 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 Thanks so much to Mace and Lifestyle for the really helpful advise. As i am not an audiophile (lousy ears ) I think i would just stick with those normal <3 cables..lifestyle. The QED cables they showed me indeed is the slim type. The wire wrap is plain white with QED embossed into it..not sure if this is the micro..Sure I am interested in your cables..can PM me the price for 40meters.Thank you
