Endless Melody 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2007 Dear all I am a first buyer looking for a HDB resale flat. I would like to get the advise on how to choose the agent.I normally look at the advertisement and call the agent to have a view. Once I found the unit is worth to discuss, should I appoint a new agent of my trust to following everything from there to discuss with the owner's agent, or should I have to choose the owner's agent as my agent as I had contact this agent directly?Since I don't have much experience in the housing market, your advice or past experience would be of great help to me. Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot! Why not get your own agent (of your trust) to do everything from the start (arranging for viewing, negotiation, etc) if you already planned to use agent services. butterfly22 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2007 First of all, do chose an agent who wil draw up financial plan for u and offer u e best advise in purchasing a flat. DO not rush in selecting a flat. Its gd to engage an agent to help u to source rather than calling all the agents selling that particular unit cos they might hard sell...Sometimes, its very sad to know that there r agents out there who con and r unprofessional, but pls do give some of them a chance to serve u and judge it yrself. Fyi, I used to be an agent too but hv step down as part time doing referral cases only as I am teaching now. I am not selling my services here, do not worry. Not all the agents r bad so give yrself sometime to look around and ask frens or relatives for advice. Most importantly, do look up www.hdb.gov.sg for latest resale transactions and guidelines in purchasing a flat. 1st timer grant r important issues to consider. If u take near parent grant, remember, u can buy anywhere in Bishan(e.g) if yr parents stay in Bishan.Recently, the market r asking for sky high cash but newer estates like Sengkang, punggol might hv flats suitable for u. Keep yr option open. Can consider to buy new flats too..

She used to be the agent who helped me to rent a nice unit. So both of us are pleased to collaborate again this time to find a good deal!
