My Home My Home!

dunno how the materials will look.. but right now, looks nice on the catalogue! i like the steel look.. but i can't stand the sound and feel of metal rubbing against each other..

lights..

lights_mbr2.jpg prob simple light for the MBR

lights_mbr.jpg for MBR ambience lighting.. maybe will get the double instead of the single one.. can't decide square or round.. but definitely black..

lights_dining.jpg for dining light.. also black.. 3 in a row..

i know i know.. LOTSA people have these lights.. but they look nice!! :good:

and for the rest of the house, we'll prob get those boring circular lights, no fancy design. but the nice stuff where people can see, and hide the rest! :good:

hihi Ginger...

err... Im not too sure how much did both of my bathrooms cost cos I did not note of the breakdown carefully .. Oops.. hee hee ... .. and becos we havent really started on the bathrooms, hence, I do not have any pixs to share with you but I will when its started ya.

Well just like newbie, I did hacked my study room away as well, as a matter of fact, it was hacked off only this morning! ... can't wait to go over during the weekends to take a look ..

Btw, u've mentioned you can't fit in a king size bed, why is this so cos I managed to do it .. *scratch-head* Just like newbie advised, take your measurements very carefully to ensure that there's no hiccups cos you wouldn't want to realise your furnitures can't fit only when its at your place ya. For us, we bought a king size bed that comes with side tables.. we do away with a dressing table cos I never need that and as for MBR TV, we bought a wall-mount unit, this way we can save some spaces here and there.

Air-conditioner wise, I've always prefered Mitsubishi Starmex cos I'm using it in my own room at my parent's place and its really quiet.

Have you started the reno works already or just sourcing for deco first?

hey smoochies_woochies,

im just sourcing.. haven picked the contractor yet, waiting for the last quote to come in before we decide.

I'm hacking my study too, the whole area's gonna be huge!

How's the orientation of your bed? Legs facing the MBR door? Or bedhead against the windows? or legs facing the window?

I imagine your wardrobe would be against the aircon ledge wall right?

agree on that. when i switch on my air-cond, i was wondering whether the compressor was even turning, coz cannot hear anything. So put my hand on the compressor and felt that it is indeed moving.

even the air-cond unit is also quiet. :deal:

much quieter than the non-inverter fujitsu air-con that i am using now. :P

SO QUIET? WA!!

ok. so anyway, the TO came for inspection yesterday, he said he might have to propose hacking the toilets, BUT, we have to use back the tiles HDB provided, even if my current tiles are out of stock.. have to use those that their contractor provides, he said to avoid dispute or something like that. but overall he's a nice guy, a bit long winded.. but nice guy.

sighz.. I wanna change my bathroom tiles!! Hope they have all white tiles.. hate the patterned ones that they have now.. sighz.

said he'll get back to me by the end of the week, on whether hacking the toilet or not.. *fingers crossed*

hey ginger,

You can just call me smooch ya cos I know my nick is kinda long.. keke..

Yup, our legs will be facing the door of our MBR.. yeh yeh, I know ppl saying things like that isn't good in fengshui terms or sorts but we really do not have any other choices.. this seems the best orientation we can fit in our furnitures.. and you're right on, wardrobe will be against the aircon ledge.

Btw darlin, if you wanna hack the wall, my advise is to get your contractor to apply for the permit early cos we waited for almost 3 weeks to get the approval and becos of this, all works were put to stop. :) But luckily my designer's contractors hands and legs very fast.. hacking was supposed to be done on Monday and we assumed that maybe only late afternoon then it'll be done but when my FH rushed down during lunchtime, all's done! They've even cleared the debris for 2nd half tiles laying! :jawdrop:

actually can you ask your TO to give you the tile contractor's contact

so that you can liase directly with him?

our TO allowed us to contact the contractor direct so get to choose the replacement tiles

of course got to top up if the tiles we choose are more expensive :)

If they do hack away the tiles you can liase with your TO (Town Counil Officer) that you will go get the tiles and the HDB contractor will lay the tiles, otherwise you can check with him on the type of tiles they are going to use and you might end up liking them and saving some $ in the process.

I only hack the bedrooms to enlarge MBR, first ID I went to propose to hack the study and create a bar counter and kitchen island but as we did not get a cooking hood we are wary of the smell all over the house hence decided against hacking the kitch.

oh.. what about your piping and stuff? the normal ones? or 16mm?

$1700 is quite cheap right? for mitsubishi..

not sure bout the diameter but I request for the thicker piping cos I read somewhere in this forum about how the water will drip and damage the false ceiling.

Not sure bout the price now but when I ask ard a year ago its all from 1700 and above.

We also upgraded the black insulator material diameter to 1/2" (standard is 3/8") to avoid "sweating" which is condensation of water on the aircond casing and 16mm pipes (think it's the water pipes). Also try to make sure it is the Class 0 or 1 materials for the insulator materials.

The issue is all these upgrade means better protection but your casing will be a big bigger in size to accomodate it.

Also try to have no joining of copper pipes in area where you will hide the piping/casing (e.g behind wardrobe) in case leakage and easy maintenance.

Cheers :dancingqueen:

ok.

called my TO today. He said my common toilet confirm no more tiles, have to hack. He will be meeting with the contractor tml, hopefully will be able to get samples of the tiles by the end of the week.

MBR toilet, he's still trying to source for the same tiles, cause apparently the MBR toilets were replaced a couple of years ago (they are not the original tiles that were put in when the block was first build, I dunno why they were changed in the first place though)

The electrician and the aluminium guys will be able to start work this week. TO said he will replace all my electrical switches and sockets cause the current ones are old models and have rusty screws, so yay! We get new switches and sockets!

He went 1 step further and said he will change our magnetic door stoppers, cause I brought it up to him that the magnetic field wasn't strong enough. At that point in time, he said the stopper can hold the door can already la. So I was surprised when he said he will change it today.

And new doorknobs too, the current ones are stained.

Hopefully the contractor has tiles that we like, if not.. :)
