lifestyle 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 (edited) Hi fteocs,The pricing is more or less around that range for an ID company cos there is a lot of carpentry and changes. Just make sure you get the good quality materials and better brand of solid top.The electrical is also quite reasonable. If you want to save cost then have less carpentry and get loose items from shops.CheersHi Lifestyle, the one you looked at is from BE concept...havent spoken to anyone just send in for quote, so not much detail, see the price .......Take a look at the second one, more ex...from Home GuideCheers Edited July 25, 2007 by lifestyle

applefreak 1 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 if i'm not wrong the LG solid surface is slightly more expensive than dupont solid surface. at least that's what EI quoted me. In the end i went for granite countertop coz it's cheaper than both
lifestyle 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 Last time (a few years back) Granite was more expensive, guess the popularity of solid top and wider range of materials & colors resulted in the reverse cost.Granite definitely more harder material so can last longer and can be quite nice if the color can match nicely.More information can be found in GnM Blog HEREif i'm not wrong the LG solid surface is slightly more expensive than dupont solid surface. at least that's what EI quoted me. fteocs 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 One point to note that you guys may have missed out due to the lengthy list, is that There is no wardrobe for MBR that most people do, if include....even more ex.Still need to spend close to $40 to $45k on purchases, everything from the usual appliances, aircon, lightings, furniture and of course the most ex is my sound system and speakers upgrade. So trying to strike a balance. For the LG top...hmm a cheaper quote for all the same thing that uses LG Top is about $45k and willing to do drawing for some carpentry working with no obligation...will get to see them next week.I believe company like Home Guide do have great design and most definitely built in cost to the quote, but for my case 80% of the design is from myself, so don't really need full ID services, but still need some professional opinionsThanks for all your input.Cheers
applefreak 1 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 actually why dun you try to get a quote from Ho Bee?since you have the design and they have the expertise?they are the one who provided the cheaper-than-solid-surface granite countertop
lifestyle 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 Oh..no master bedroom wardrobe... then you should try to find out how much is per foot run on cabinet & wardrobes. If not too far from the market rate then next you need to decide what materials (be in laminate or more expensive veneer).Off course it would be best to custom made (rather than off the shelf products) your carpentry if you like to have everything fit exactly to your rooms. This is why it is more expensive.Yes, you still need to have extra $$ for the furnitures & appliances.Another cheaper way is that you try to source a good & reliable contractor to save cost if you know what you want. But it will definitely will take more time for you to arrange & coordinate everything. So time is money also in that respect.I do not know how is the pricing of your ID company compares to the more established ID name. Have you seen their project workmanship? If it is very good and above average then it may worth the extra cost if you are looking for great design & workmanship. If so-so only then you can look for more cheaper ID.ID services really help you to managed all the differenent sub-cond unit doing various part of the project. They will be responsible if anything goes wrong.Hope this help. One point to note that you guys may have missed out due to the lengthy list, is that There is no wardrobe for MBR that most people do, if include....even more ex.Still need to spend close to $40 to $45k on purchases, everything from the usual appliances, aircon, lightings, furniture and of course the most ex is my sound system and speakers upgrade. So trying to strike a balance. For the LG top...hmm a cheaper quote for all the same thing that uses LG Top is about $45k and willing to do drawing for some carpentry working with no obligation...will get to see them next week.I believe company like Home Guide do have great design and most definitely built in cost to the quote, but for my case 80% of the design is from myself, so don't really need full ID services, but still need some professional opinionsThanks for all your input.Cheers

fteocs 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 31st July....going to register for my girl primary school and also fixed up appt to see drawing by my friend's ID company.Just to mentioned, the person assigned to me by my friend mentioned that the quote provided includes supplying of sink, toilet bowls, basin, hob & hood, bath room accessories.....so the price of about $45k +/- is actually not that bad especially when compared to a few others I have got. But guess for things like taps and shower set will need to top up or get my own, I prefer the Grohe stuff. He also mentioned that the drawings will be free even if ultimately I don;t engage their work, hopefully can get soft copy. And yes 1st HDB appt on 2nd Aug....then flying off to US on 20th Aug...come back just nice a couple of weeks later for the 2nd HDB appt and by then I should be signing up a ID and start renovation submission and work right after handover. Hope everything go smooth.Cheers
