babyQ 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 Also Extreme Lightings any comments?i went to Extreme Lightings when i did my lighting survey/search along Balestier. their prices were the most reasonable compared to the other shops along the lighting stretch. i think the guy who attended to me was Alex. sharp and fast, saw me with my notes and gave me his "best" price without me bargaining. but i finally got all my lights from DK Lighting at Geylang coz i found even better prices there!can't wait to see pix of your done-up place. your dd's bedroom set is a dream.... fteocs 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 Hi everyone, pretty busy weekend.Bought the Karcher water filter vacuum cleaner (DS5500 - $640) , novita steam iron (ss19, $340), Samsung fridge (RSH1NEMH, $1600, refer to pic), prices are cheaper than major store, got them from a friend's shop, I suppose not the real cheapest, but reasonable, tired to really hunt around and if any issues, no problem in getting it fixed or replace, bought most if not all appliance from him.Bought washing machine Ariston AQXXL, for $969, after sales and $100 trade in existing Ariston washer.place order for my LCD projector, Epson EMPTW 1000 ($4600) + others stuff (installation, cables, etc) total $6500+Heard the Onkyo TX-NS875 ($2505) as previously no stock, wanted to hear the higher range TX-NR905 ($3000) and compare to Denon AVR4308CI ($2890)....going to do some research before place order by this week for End Nov shipment, if miss this week, must wait long.Bought a dining set as well from Cellini, for $1316Confirm to buy Sonus Faber speakers, ~ $5200 for Domus Grand Piano (Front speakers), Domus Center (~$1400) and Domus Gravis or wall Domus (~$1400)Sigh...bleeding heavily as things progress, really need the year end AWS to nurse the bleed. lifestyle 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 That's heavy stuff there fteocs . Nice choice on Epson EMPTW 1000 with it's short throw. Which proj screen you got?I recommend the 875 (905 is useful only if you take full advantage of it's features) and can get much cheaper than the price you quoted. PM me if you are interested in. Get the black color Onkyo and get a black PS3...perfect match.Hi everyone, pretty busy weekend.Bought the Karcher water filter vacuum cleaner (DS5500 - $640) , novita steam iron (ss19, $340), Samsung fridge (RSH1NEMH, $1600, refer to pic), prices are cheaper than major store, got them from a friend's shop, I suppose not the real cheapest, but reasonable, tired to really hunt around and if any issues, no problem in getting it fixed or replace, bought most if not all appliance from him.Bought washing machine Ariston AQXXL, for $969, after sales and $100 trade in existing Ariston washer.place order for my LCD projector, Epson EMPTW 1000 ($4600) + others stuff (installation, cables, etc) total $6500+Heard the Onkyo TX-NS875 ($2505) as previously no stock, wanted to hear the higher range TX-NR905 ($3000) and compare to Denon AVR4308CI ($2890)....going to do some research before place order by this week for End Nov shipment, if miss this week, must wait long.Bought a dining set as well from Cellini, for $1316Confirm to buy Sonus Faber speakers, ~ $5200 for Domus Grand Piano (Front speakers), Domus Center (~$1400) and Domus Gravis or wall Domus (~$1400)Sigh...bleeding heavily as things progress, really need the year end AWS to nurse the bleed. fteocs 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 (edited) Hi Lifestyle,I will be using a fixed screen, Remaco local brand, saw it a few times not too bad though not the best out there, price wise $1000+ for a 90" size. The reason I am looking at the 905 is for the toroidal transformer and also having separate transformer for the video processing. Toroidal transformer is only available from 4806 model and above for denon products and not in the 4308 I initially keen on and high end product much more ex then the 905 for other brands. As you know the transformer is a very impt component for HiFi and AV components. Also the better DAC is another reason. There seems to be some issues surrounding the HDMI handshake but I am not too concern as I will definitely set to "THROUGH" and skip the processing and it problem would be ease when the player is also HDMI 1.3a, currently my player SONY DVPNS9100ES is not 1.3a I think it is 1.2 or 1.2a as it can stream SACD via HDMI and only 1.2 and later can do that.So that it for now. Will PM u separately and hopefully you can reply ASAP as I need to confirm order by this week, most probably tmr.CheersHey Lifestyle, Yr PM is either disabled or Full, can't PM u.So do PM me on yr lobang for the Onkyo AMP ASAP, as mentioned I need to place order by this week, most probably tmr for End Nov shipment. fteocs 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Hi everyone,Correction, the price for Onkyo TX-NS875 is $2050, not $2505, inclusive of GST, the price for TX-NR905 is correct at $3000. If you are more particular on the sound quality, the 905 is a better choice. On feature wise both are very similar and if that is you decision criteria, than 875 is a more value for money model. The toriodal transformer is really a key component in better audio.cheers
lifestyle 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Hi fteocs,Appology for late reply and my mail box full.Yes the best price i know was $2050 at KEC. For your requirements definitely 905.Cheers
fteocs 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 Hey Lifestyle, yes I got my stuff so far from KEC at Adelphi. Just collected all the cables, and projector mounting so that I can get the electrician to install them as part of the wiring then can conceal as much as possible with ceiling work. Been very busy doing measurement and calculation for the best location, length required, etcSome updates - no picsFlooring and erection of walls all done. currently plastering, will bedone by this Sat and monday will be cabling.Went to listen to Musical Fidelity A5...like it very much think will be getting it as a stereo for 2 channel music only enjoyment and also it has a HT bypass so can co-exist with my AV Amp well. A bit pricy though at $3750.Cheer
lifestyle 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 (edited) Hi fteocs,Good place to get your stuff at KEC ...What you mean "A bit pricy...at $3750" ...that is quite a bit. Don't forget to plan wiring for future usage or upgrades. As for plastering, make sure it is done smoothly (first time correctly...else if subsequent layer will make it uneven & bulging effects) and check it under light in the night as this is the ultimate test . If not done properly you will see waviness and humps like look under reflection of lights which can be quite ugly I will be picking up a Denon DM33 (yes not a DAB version cos i got speaker size constraint) for the master bedroom to improve the sound coming from the LCD TV and listening to morning wakeup music. You know the drill regarding placement of power line & cables....just make sure it does not cause any interference. fteocs 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 Will take note for the cabling, that's why need to be there to brief eletrician, also esp on the power point for the 2 amp, cannot have lazy chain for the 2 socket, though I plan to buy a power plant, but at a later stage...singpore voltage is not that bad compare to many other countries, so can live with it, as the equipment and speakers need run in as well. For Europe/UK brand Amp $3k and above very common, Naim, superNait is over $6k, NAD M3 is about $4.5k, Creek Destiny is also over $4k, this Musical Fidelity A5 receive very good review and list at $4200 and quoted $3750 with GST, all the rest i mentioned all before GST, but I think can get some discount off the list price.Have you heard of Anti Cable, a solid wire stiff but maleable, coated red, saw in Audio 88 done some read up seems not bad, one of those more exotic cable other than Nordost. By the way I am using Nordost flatline now perhaps will stick to it and change later. Interconnect using VanDer Hul D102 II hybrid not too bad as well. But will definitely change later along with power plant.Cheers
