Mbr Layout Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

these are my rooms.

floorplan.jpg

I've got a kingsized bed. and I need to put a wardrobe in the MBR as well.

Was initially planning on a WIW, but seems like not enough space already.. :furious:

I need some suggestions on the possible layout of the MBR.

Your MBR is very big, if you really want a WIW, should go and do it. WIW can be on the other side of the room where the aircon ledge is located.

like against the wall? then the wardobe space like not very much right? cos of the kingsize bed, like no space to walk, unless put the bed facing the MBR door..

unless my image of the space is skewed.. as we haven seen the actual place, just have the floor plan.

FH had a crazy idea, he wanted to split the show and the toilet area into 2, then the shower area open up into the WIW.. (which is the same area where raincole suggested we put the WIW).. what do you think? costly?

Cannot really see the dimensions of your MBR but dun think you can squeeze in a king-size bed and a wiw.

Looking at the space, looks like the only place where you can have a wiw is where raincole suggested.

But why a wiw? You will be sacrificing wardrobe space and the walkway for your wiw will be pretty narrow.

I persuaded my FW not to have a WIW and now our wardrobe will be about 10ft long, room also look much spacious.

Personnal, I would do a U-shaped or L-shaped wardrobe along the same wall. The wardrobe will cover up the air-con ledge window, but can still be accessible for aircon servicing. This is what I will be doing for my wardrobe. As for the kingsize bed, the bedhead can be against the windows (half height windows I assumed). With some nice window curtains, I think it will be pretty nice.

oops, sorry.. here's a clearer one.

Yea, half height windows.. hmm.. if put the bed head against the window, then half the windows cannot open already.. can take a shower if it rains in the middle of the night! lol but yea, its an idea.. never crossed my mind to put the bed head against the window wall.. hmmm

Question, how do you cover the aircon-ledge window and still make it acccessible? Its a sliding panel or something?

Ok. You know your room very big, able to put king bed & to do WIW.

but its going to be a quite a small WIW right?

how about an L shape semi-WIW thingy.. where the doors can slide open right to the end.. something like these windows.. window

can it be done? :P

WIW are meant without doors, open concept of Wardrobe.

U c the toilet door wall... u can build the WIW starting from the toilet wall, along the toilet door wall and then back to the aircon ledge wall leaving 0.9m for the entrance and passage way. This will form a J-shape.

If wanted smaller, can just do a L-shape from the toilet door wall then back to the aircon ledge wall.

King bed can placed against the window (but need to see if below window got opening) or against the other wall (but then can see the door unless u wanted to put string curtain after the toilet door before entering your resting area - cosy)

My MBR is roughly about the same size as yours and it is definitely not big enuf for a WIW and a king-sized bed. From the floor plan, it may look big but I think you will need to look at the actual rm before making a decision. Also, some of the space is "lost" in the short stretch of "corridor" in front of the MBR toilet.

Why cannot open the windows if you place the bedhead against the wall under the windows? Is your bedhead so high?

As for the wardrobe, my wardrobe will be from Closet Design. Something like this. The interior can be designed such that the air-con ledge windows can still be accessible when required.

IMO, new HDB MBR/BR are too small to have a WIW, unless you join 2 rms in one. Wardrobe space is more impt, it will never be enough.

Collected keys and went to see the place already..

Shape of the room is weird.. cant put enough wardrobe for 2 people without hacking any walls.. sighz

TYM, if U-shape or L-shape wardrobe, wouldnt the space at the corners of the wardrobe be wasted? Not sure, just asking, cause the corners like hard to reach..

The corners need not be at right angles, can be something like this.

Oops, wrong link. Should be this.
