Nightmare With The Floor Gallery

Recommended Posts

I have to said, it's nothing  but frustration. Initially we thought laying vinyl in our small bedroom  is a straight forward & fast job that can be completed  in 1day . Their salesperson, Ms Joey Tay, had assured us this too after her site visit at our place.  We signed the contract  to proceed with the work on the spot as Joey seem to be very confident & was prompt with our enquiries.  Joey took the necessary measurements & advised us that the height difference after installation of the vinyl will be 2mm which is insignificant & we won't even notice it. The installation date was 2 weeks later, as they need to colour coat the skirting to match the vinyl. She will assist to choose the col closest to the vinyl & fwd the photo of the skirting once it has been col. coated. The nightmare begin, her responses to msg became slower & all of the sudden she seem so busy & we were  the one going after her for updates. The photo of the vinyl fwd through watsapp were of difference col. as what we chose. We got tired & told her we like to cancel the order since she is overwhelmed with other orders & work had  yet to be started. She apologise & assured us that she will be more attentive & she will be on site on the day of installation to ensure all went well.  We gave her the benefit of doubts. Went down to her office to choose the colour for the skirting on our own instead of waiting for her since she's so busy. Joey also told us that the vinyl will be delivered to us a day before installation as  it needs to be conditioned  to the temperature in our apartment. Text her a few times to cfm on the time of delivery  so someone will be home to receive it. Even simple thing like confirming the time is so difficult,  she's unable to advise by return txt. Again txt her on the day of delivery, she said her guy will bring the next day when he is there for installation. Initially stressed the important of having it conditioned at our home 2 days before installation but later said it's ok.

On the actual date for installation, the guy came without skirting & said it has yet to be colour coated & we received txt msg fr Joey, informing us she's NOT COMING..when we question about the skirting, she said it will be sent over before lunch.  The guys later delivered the plain skirting without coating. WHAT is WRONG??? 1st said morning then before lunch & later delivered plain skirting without coating. Totally irresponsible...2weeks & not coated? I even personally went down to choose the col.  What happen to all her assurance??After removing the old laminate, we were told that there will be a height difference of 10mm NOT 2mm that Joey told us during site visit. This is not only unsightly, it also can pose a high risk of trips & fall hazards.  The installation guy suggest us to do cement screening. That needs 2WEEKS to dry and an additional cost. WHAT THE.. ??? Right from the start we told Joey we dont want cement screening as we cant wait for 2 weeks. She assured us that cemant screen is not necessary since the height difference of 2mm is negligible.  What are we to do now???there's no turning back, laminates  have been removed  & we are now left with cement flr..can we say no???instead of resolving the issue, joey told us we have to make up for the additional cost if we decide to do cement screening. So 2weeks with no room to sleep & all she care is to get more $$ out from us.Since she has no attempt on her part to redeem the situation, we are left to fend for ourselves.  We asked the site personnel if there's any quicker option, he suggested  laying plywood. So no choice have to go for it, rite?? We are practically at their mercy..omg ..totally unethical...we text Joey, she wants us to sign an agreement  for additional fee of $600 for plywood installation & pay 50% of it upfront. Else, the job will not carry on..WHAT?? her oversight became our penalty....no negotiation on her part!! We made a call to her

manager & she reduced the cost to S$300 (subject  to gst)after we kicked up a fuss. Nevertheless we still feel short changed. We went ahead with vinyl flooring because we got her assurance during her visit at our place that the height difference after installation is not significant & the job can be completed in a day. If we were to know that there's so much hassle & frustration involved, we wouldn't have go ahead with the flooring. Empty assurance that can't be delivered is what we got so far. Personally,  i thought such small project will be completed without problem by half a day. Such wishful thinking. Think twice before you leap, we learned our lesson the hard way.
