I heard that a lorry loaded with cabinet arrived in JM

The lorry was from malaysia.

Some id actually do the carpentry work in malaysia??

Is the material the same as in Spore?

Anyone verify this matter?

my ID told me some company do that; get the customer, then carpentry done is Msia to cut cost... eg, the wooden laminate on cabinets, if u see those colorful display in all ID offices... they show u lamitak laminate but when doing, they use Msia brand, not actual lamitak brand, by the time work done, no way to verify liao....

dunno how to prevent and verify oso.. just fyi ;)

Hi Good Neighbours!

I just got my keys the past Monday.

Been readin this thread for sometime. Interesting.

I wish all and ourselves all the best for the renovations coming up.

Abt thieves and such, i purpose that we keep our eyes open even for each other's units when we are there so any "possible thieves" can be deterred.

Keep sharin your reno stories and experiences, together we will learn! Cheers!

Yes, there is one brand laminate (normally they will show to customers) call Omita (something like that), that brand belong to malaysia. Normally in spore, we use edi, etc....that is really from spore.

Yes, I also dont want my carpentry to be done in malaysia. I feel cheated.

Hi fatbear,

i have actually purchased the electric heater tank 15L type, cost around $138 or $183... can't remember..

but i've decided to change to gas heater. Rmours has it that the gas type is more cost saving but is slower in heating up, but the electrician told me there should be no difference in time needed to heat up, so, dunno who is right..

most important, i dun wan the bulky tank which can oni b installed right on top of that wall outside common toilet... another plus point - gas heater is free :thumbs up:

I called Ms Chee this morning, she said block 25B is likely to be completed by end of the year so giving HDB 1 month to inspect, we will be likely to collect in Jan (I presume is late Jan).

I am checking with her as to we can rent out our flat as we might be relocating... also when to re-submit HLE.... :dunno:

that is why we should choose id/contrator who has workshop in s'pore. not guarantee but a good precaution.

Hi sam07

thanks for your reply

i tot of using the electic storage type like joven or ariston, however id said have to add installation charges per point come up to 600-700 plus excl the price of the heater ($200+)So total have to spend 800-900 to install the storage heater type, even though have all the hot/cold water pipings in our new flat

then went to city gas and heard that they are giving out FREE gas water heaters, but have to open a city gas account...As i am using a vitroceramic hob(electric) hob, thus a bit silly to use gas for heater right?

PROs of gas is that : it is free and water heating is instantaneous, as long as no one is bathing using hot water, the kitchen tap or other points can have hot water as well. CONs is that my parents told me sometimes gas might leak and might have gas poisonning! i so scared cos might be alone at home sometimes and sound suicidal!

PROs of electric is that it can supply to all water points, CONs is that the cost of installation is high and heating up the water takes time like 10-15 mins.

or do u suggest those individual electric type attached to bathroom like 707 brands ones...

Please help and advise

:dunno:

Hi Fat Bear,

I think your ID has overcharged you. I bought a storage heater at $250 or $280 and installation should only cost $150 + + ( Average price should not exceed $200). Better look for more ID and determine a better pricing.

I think electric heater is the best.

Got to know from my relative that using gas heater, the heater will emit "heat" thus makes uor kitchen warm. Luckily for her, her unit is a condo so all the air-con compressor and heaters are placed outside the home.
