tingshen 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2007 why you dun trust the aircon man anymore? suggest you call up the manufacturer to double verify, they know the installation the best......my neighbour were complaining about his 2 days old Envio compressor PCB went hairwire.....aircon on non-stop and make the water come out from fancoil........ FSP 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2007 Aircon piping insulation very important. Use those thick ones. I'm using Amaflex insulation material. Think those Eccoflex & other brands not as thick so not so good. Ask ur installer, they will know.
tingshen 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 brand is just brand, there are different class like Class 1 Class 0 etc some can withstand sunlight and heat, sun can't......so most probably you will have problem after 1 year....when the workmanship warranty expires.... I dun trust the aircon guy becos he agreed to match the quotation given by another aircon coy but later start to request to top up like upgrade insulation from class 1 to class 0, increase the size of fan coil for mst bedroom (even though my bedroom is already very small), etc. He promised that he will give me at least 3/8 thickness insulation but I found out that he only install 1/4 thickness for me. I have a question to you guys, how do you know if the insulation is for water pipe or for copper pipe? I saw some expose insulation around some copper looking pipes that supppose to connect to the fancoil but he claimed that it is for the water pipe. Many thanks in advance. For insulation, class 1 or 0. Manage to find this on a website telling whats the difference between the classes:<<Put simply Class 0 (Fire propagation) the material adds no fuel to a fire. Class 1 relates to a surface spread of flame of 165mm after 1.5 minutes with final flame spread of 165mm. Class 2 has a surface spread of flame of 215mm after 1.5 minutes with final flame spread of 455mm. Class 3 has a surface spread of flame of 265mm after 1.5 minutes with final flame spread of 710mm. Class 4 has a surface spread of flame greater than 265mm after 1.5 minutes with a final spread of flame exceeding 710mm.>>Looking at things, I bet the external white plastic casing is not even Class 1 rated.... 1/4" thickness for aircon pipe? Cannot be... 1/4" is only used for water pipes, most shops don't insulate water pipe. Your shop must be quite good to do the extra work for you. I upgrade my fan coil before for my MBR, super cold, in fact too cold... I only use low/quiet mode (ie. lowest fan speed) cos even the med fan speed is blowing too strong. Wasted my $$ as I never use fan speed higher then low/quiet.... But if you like it cold, its a good choice. The water pipe is grey PVC pipe, very easy to identify. Copper pipes are for aircon refrigerant, the insulation should be at least 3/8" or better 1/2".
