Air-con Drainage Pipe Under Floor Tiles?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I'm new here. And I urgently need advises. We are currently renovating our new house. Hacking is done and tiling is on-going. We are installing new air-cons and for the one in the master bedroom, the installer is suggesting for the drainage pipe to run underneath the floor tiles, so that the PVC pipe will be hidden and will be more asthetically pleasing for the eye.

Anyone of you doing so and is it a good way to do so?

Will appreciate your comments!

thanks in advance.

Is common to embed the drain pipe into the concrete floor slab for new developments. Just have to make sure that the insulation is done properly.

yoongf,

But due to the humidity of the floor and the hot and cold weather, will it affect the pipings?

After the long run will the pipings been affected?

need to gain some knowledge on it. :P

plastics worse enemy is heat and sunlight.

Which is a better environment? Within hot false ceiling space or embedded.

Embedded is lesser evil. Embedded pipes is ok as long as pipe is not constantly presurised, like cold water supply pipes.

other thing u need to consider is the gradient of the pipe routes.... due to limited thickness of floor screed allowed by HDB, it may not be enough screed to cover the pipes for tiles laying

thanks all for the help and advises. my contractor had advised against it as he said that there are some cases where the neigbours below had complaint about water leakage. and these houses happened to have their water drainage embedded. while there's no direct link that the leakage is due to the embedded drainage, but it may be one of the factor. so i guess, there's always the risk. anyway, with the risk and the rest of the considerations pointed out, we have decided not to do it.

once again, thanks yar!
