Actually, can feel Vin's sincerity but somehow it's the team of ppl whom they might engage for my project made me think twice. Admit that he's quite inexperienced but ppl need to learn from their mistakes thus he always get Johnson's approval before sending me the quotes.

2nd visit with Vin was meeting up with Johnson too and I got to see Johnson's 2D drawings. Quite impressed already then told them their quotes too high so came the 2nd quotes. Told them I need to add this minus that...then came 3rd quotes. 3rd quotes was quite competitve compared to the other contractor whom I had signed up with. In fact, Vin forgotten to add in quotes for doing up a shower kerb for me then he need to give me FOC for that. Then in the final quotes, Andrew ran thru the quotation again with me then realised that Vin had forgotten to add in the haulage cost for sand then FOC for me again. Due to his lack of experience, reckon my quotations should be charged higher than stated. Even Andrew was telling me that he knew they are not going to earn more than 3K with my project eh. Hmm..come to think of that, I wonder if they be much happier dealing nothing with me. Think they are aiming at bigger projects (note: higher profits). :)

Anyway, glad that the screening part was over for us. Hoping our reno to go smooth smooth eh.

Yah, though that amount can be offset from the total price to pay, I dun really like the idea of paying a nominal fee for seeing the design first. Perhaps each designing company had their way of doing biz...unfortunately they cant buy us over. :bangwall:

Hi BoonPin85,

So you have engaged them to do your renov before? Their designer Johnson always tells me "no problem" and "will turn out very nice" when we were discussing with him on the design. I have engaged the firm and due to unfortunate circumstance (my sellers backed out 1 day b4 completion date), I have put my renov on hold (till our legal proceeding agst sellers is completed).

hi clare maybe boonpin85 mean that they promise to quote this and that.. never fulfilled their promise..

lik vin told me can get quotation, end up like never prepare and do on the spot but uses 4hrs.. next the one that do quotation is the boss, he cn left this out or that out..

johnson alays has his own design, seems hard to let him know what i want exactly, he so confident of his own design.. but i wan to save my bucks on design, jus practical and spend wisely..

btw, how this getting for you, did you manage to get back at your seller?

So far, I quite like Johnson's design. Quite close to my expectation.

I am still waiting for my lawyer to get ready the documents to file with High Court by this week.

I've shortlisted Designer Guys as one of the top 2 consideration. Their quotation is very competitive. I've not signed with them yet. Before doing so, I hope to hear from people in the forum who have used their service before - whether if it is good or bad.

Johnson is quite a good sales person but I wonder how much bandwidth he has in monitoring the renovation. It might to left to one of his associates and I think that's when I'm not too comfortable. Do they deliver as promised or are there going to be extra items to be charged?

If you have any comments or opinions about their work, I will love to hear about them before i sign on the dotted line.
