I have a question, hope someone can help me...

Can anyone advise me what are the necessary things or steps to take when opening the door after I get my keys?? Actually I already went to the flat twice during inspection, does that mean I do not need to sprinkle salt and bring fruits again??

My MIL says we need to throw some oranges in when we open the door.. Another person told me to sprinkle rice or salt when we enter and leave the fruits in the centre of the living room.. Place coins in every corner and leave the flat for 3 days..

Very confused now as so many different suggestions... help... ;)

If you get 20 different opinions in addition to your MIL's, who are you going to believe?

True there are alot of different opinions around so I follow my Great master (mother) advise. :)

For us the first day we got the keys, we brought 2 pineapple (Huang), 8 Red apples (Ping Ann) & 8 Orange (Dao Zhi Dao Li). Once we open the door and we roll the 2 pineapple in the living room. Err... after that we throw five kinds of bean at every corner of the wall and open up all the windows. I think that abt it, cant rem after so long.

But most impt date is the do tu date must ask around for a good timing b4 ur reno start. :dunno:

Oh apples and oranges we place it in the centre of the living room and forget to highlight we also brought Banana (Cantonese: Chew Chai) along we left it for abt three days b4 throw everythings away. :bangwall:

Dong Tu need not being the actual day of reno start cos of the Timing & Burning of paper. Actually during the praying time u will use ur own hammer and knock on the four corner wall which mean u had already start ur reno. So u can start ur actual reno anytimes after u had finished ur Dong Tu.

I am nt sure whether my way are correct hopefully those expert in here can give even better suggestions. !!

If u are a Buddhist, u can chose not to burn paper or pray to the earth becos it is not a Buddhist practise to make offerings to earth deities (its more of chinese folks beliefs). However, to carry out certain rites in the right concept is acceptable within the Buddhist arena, let me suggest u the below:

If u are a pure buddhist, then no need to choose any date or day nor pray anything. Just find a day where yr family if free and recite the Buddha's name and use the hammer to hit the ground once as a symbolic truth of Buddha blessing yr new grounds.

Althernatvely, u can invite a lay or monk to yr house to recite scriptures to consrecte yr house. Infact, as a buddhist, I would suggest to u to minise the rites untill the very day u move into yr house wherebyu do a housewarming and blessings of the house all at one go which will be more cost saving n less trouble.

Of cos as a chinese, to place pineapples n "lucky items" which can liven the moods of yr family is acceptable too ... but not so of a Buddhistic practise .. jus to bring out the mood, i would say ... =)

anymore queries ???

enjoy yr new home !

Just bought this Samsung LCD TV yesterday ..Its an old model (even I didn't hear of it) .. but it was cheap so HB got it... Initially we were settling for 32" then felt abit small so upgrade to 37" ... end up now buy 40"...

Its black with piano finish.. specs also quite average and comparable.. Quite a good buy though for less than 2K... :dunno:
