Thanks. Yup can be an expensive & time consuming (i.e storing, backup & post processing, etc..) hobby as once you want to have better lens which can cost much much more than the camera body.

Must have a real passion and must experiment with various techniques...this is the way to improve.

nice piccy! me too would luv to take it up but its really an expensive hobby. :notti:

Hi jamez, for beginners, i would suggest a basic SLR camera with kit lens so as to keep the cost down.

Canon or Nikon would be a good camera. Please bear in mind that once you start using & collecting respective brand lenses then difficult to change brand in future without lost of $$.

Canon 400D would be a nice budget camera...or if you can wait and budget allows then go for the soon to be release higher spec Canon 40D which will be a very good camera and will meet all your future needs.

Cheers

yeah itz gonna be a costly hobby...but the seeing the pictures u take is kinda like capturing a moment with ur hands...and if the photo is really swee then something magical is accomplished... :sport-smiley-003: alot of interesting stuff like what u said...seeing things in a different way then others, capturing something which others would not have noticeed...

wait until my reno finish then save up again and start scouting for camera...by then Canon 40D will be released for sale...checking it out on the net now.... :help:

thanx very much for ur advise lifestyle..... :help:

No problem jamez. Hope my advice is more on inspiration than extra cost (on top of your recent reno cost).

What i like about good camera pics compares to the normal (average) point & shoot camera is that it bring out the "WOW" :yamseng: in most pics (eg by having sharp detail and/or interesting shot). I again appologized if my statement upset anyone.

I have seen some really great photographer pics like the following..... this is what inspire me to achieve that standard.

Some of great site i like to view are:

wow...these are indeed great photos...the photographers communicate to us what they saw... through those pictures. everyone can see what they saw...but itz also about having the skill to capture it and communicate it to others who have missed the moments. :)

i LOVE the last photo...the one with the dog wan... :yamseng::dunno::):):notti:8|8|:(

I truely believe in your statements.

How often you can remember (in details) some really fantastic place or holidays that you been in the past or recently. Nothing beats some really good nice well taken interesting pictures (or HD video :dunno:) that you can always admired :) ...here are some pics My holiday blog.

I needed a good camera for the birth of our blessed daughter and the subsequent holiday oversea with her. This is what make me invest (yup i was one of the first to purchase the 5D model when they launch the camera in Santosa) in a good camera.

Actually nothing beat capturing all the good memory in the camera. :yamseng:
