lifestyle 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 Hi,For those who have the Fisher & Paykel washing machine, can you show me your pic (prefer as a picture tells a thousand words) or else describe of how the water drainage pipe be connected to the floor drainage area. Understand that the F&P washine machine pipes start at a higher portion of the washine machine unlike other brands which are at the lower base.Should i need to make a drainage pipe much higher than say 4inch from the ground? Thanks

lifestyle 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2007 Thanks for your reply bro Cantona,I think i know what you mean So during our renovation we do not need to make the floor drainage pipes higher (say like 0.5m) in order to meet the service man own pipes. No issue with leaking water from the F&P pipes if we connect to the pipes to the drainage pipe which is at the base of the washing machine base..hope you know what i mean?CheersGood Morning Bro Mine is only washer GWC12. I think leave ur floor drainage as it is, cos each household maybe different the service man will do accordingly. Who know in the end u might nt buy F&P washer. fteocs 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2007 (edited) Hi Lifestyle,I really like the way you take the pictures...very good, how i wish I can take good pictures. For the HTS, I have some suggestions:For TV, really go for 1920 x 1080, I am eyeing one as well, really can see difference. For projector, cabling is a concern and make sure you plan it properly, from your system to the projector and also the TV tuner/SCV as projector dont have tuner built-in, also consider the HDMI cable length....expensive for HDMI cables, you may want to consider having your system not in the traditional location (on the same side as your screen) but somewhere else for cabling ease and aesthetic purpose.Oh yes, check out the JVC DILA projector 1080....super good, black is black, real black resolution is superb, the model I saw can't remember is about $20k +/- but think got lower range that is cheaper at Adelphi in the shop selling MBL speakers (expensive omni directional speakers...cheapest maybe $18 to 22k for a pair of front speakers)...I dont have the space for both the projector and speakers and also too ex for me as well. For speakers, may I suggest you concentrate on the front speakers as most of the sound effects comes from the front pair and also when you listen to stereo music they are the one not the surrounds, and for movies, center is important too.A few brands you listed I personally not too keen like the KEF.Again it depends on your habits, 50% music 50% movies, or ..... still a good front speakers make a whole lot of differences. If you are getting a good front speaker, consider also buying a separate power amp or stereo amp and feed the pre-out of the surround processor or receiver to the amp which in turns goes to the front speakers, the rest of the speakers source comes from the surround receiver. That's what I intend to do in fact having right now but changing. Also since you are doing major reno, consider the space you need for speaker placement, placement will make a lot of difference to the sound quality.Lastly in general if you have no choice not need to place the front speakers near to walls (back walls) then look for speakers with front flex port and not back fire flex port, so that the bass will be less affected by the rear wall reflection, and less boomy in louder volume and source with heavy bass.Cheers Edited July 12, 2007 by fteocs
lifestyle 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2007 (edited) Hi fteocs,Wow ...thanks for the great recommendation & very informative reply. Definitely you have a very good taste there Yes, i was all set on the Sony 46X full HD TV with Epson (~$5.5K) or JVC DILA 1080p proj (only $7K) on a 100" Steward screen but decided wait for the next upgrade instead as not be suitable with the large floor stand speaker for our design. For now it will be a simple clean cut HT.Planning to get a large 50inch plasma (hoping the new 8G Pio arrive in time...else will settle with the Panasonic latest plasma).Decided on the KEF as that was the best lifestyle speaker we could find which is quite good on music as well. Will be doing 70% (movies/SCV) and 30% (music). Only issue is the subwoofer which is not that powerful (only 250w) and cannot be upgraded as it comes in the package...would love to change to a Velodyne 1000r sub. Any suggestion on the amp to go with the KEF. Was thinking about the new Onkyo 805 which is HDMI 1.3 future proofed but design wise was average .Speaker placement was told should be about 6ft apart for the two front speakers and i have cater for about 12ft for the rear speakers which will be wall mounted at ear level.Cheers Edited July 12, 2007 by lifestyle

Amp as well.I for one is not too worried about video processing or pass-through for a surround processor or receiver, so HDMI 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3 is not a concern unless you have many HD devices to consolidate via the receiver to be displayed, for me video is always from source to display. For me surround receiver priority is sound quality.Hmm by the time HDMI 1.3 be ubiquitious time to change liao...hahahaPlasma will used more electricity and generate more heat and when the set gets old will generate noise due to aging "pump" that pushing gas through to be charged, just like aircon that suppose to be a closed system, its never be and there bound to be "mini" loss of gas, but again by then time to change liao.Got space can go for DLP projection TV not as sleek but image quality is better and size for size is cheaper too. I don;t have the space to get that.Cheers
