Toilet Renov - Epoxy Vs Hacking & Tiling

Recommended Posts

hiya,

Would like to seek the advice of the folks here.

I suggested to my ID that to save some cost, I would like to use epoxy paint instead of hacking and retiling the 2 toilets.

Any pros and cons on Epoxy paint option?

Hi, I used epoxy spray painting on my toilet tiles...can check out my blog to see the before and after pics.....pros are that it's cheaper compared to hacking and tiling, no waterproofing issue thus no leaking problem, can be completed within 3-5 days, groutlines are covered with paint as well, making stains easily removed in future.

Cons are durability, of course i will expect it to start peeling a few yrs later if i do not maintain its condition. Then again, this is a personal issue, it's up to you to maintain. Also cannot do hard scrubbing for fear of peeling.

Do you think it's cheaper to do epoxy or plastering for walls?

I intend to do it for my service balcony whichever is cheaper but also have to provide that it won't wear off so easily and for the S.B flooring most probably will go with epoxy. I find hacking and re-tiling will be more expensive.

Can advise? Thanks in advance!

Plastering is different from epoxy painting leh...plastering is usually done to make the wall smoother...after plastering, you still got to paint your wall....also, plastering can only be done on walls and not tiles...epoxy spray paint is spraying on tiles and not walls....both serves entirely different purposes

Hi Air,

Yes. i understand that epoxy is done on tiles but read from other posts on the forum that plastering can also be done on the wall without hacking the original tiles but need to apply sealant application on it before doing it? Am I right? :) I'm also abit confused.

Ehh I am not too sure about plastering on tiles itself leh..haven't heard of that....actually why need to plaster the tiles har?

Even for epoxy paint, they also need to apply sealant...
