Aircon Compressor Spoilt, Should I Change The Whole Package?

Recommended Posts

hellos all, my resale flat Daikin aircon compressor is spoilt, apparently it is so until the birds can hop in and make their nests inside... :(

Should I change the entire package, including the units, or just change the compressor alone? According to the previous owner, it's only 5 years old ;) but if I don't change, if they spoil later on, I'll be wasting more money  On the other hand, must I change back to Daikin same model? Am afraid the installation of different model will spoil my wall/ toilet etc.

Will there be any problem to relay the cable and piping ?? I mean any wardrobe or cornics that blocking the way ?? If no... then better to change all...

Actually my seller also left the Daikin system 4... should be working well... but I still changed it... don't want later spoil then change...

;) why it didn't spoil earlier :)

I guess if I changed back to the same model, no relaying problems... not sure if I changed to a totally different one... where did you get your new one? Any recommendations if the workmanship/ service is good?

It still possible to retain the trunk as long your pipes are replacable by the technician. Changing the whole system is ideal which you'll have lesser hassle on warranty and all parts are new, more fresher airzzz :-) , I'd advise you to change the pipe if possible.

Depend on your usage, if you want to on your air-con for a few rooms which is more then 2 rooms (average 9k btu each), go for ME as the compressor can achieve higher btu but prepare to pay more $$ to Singpower. If you want to on only 2 room at most , go for Daikin..Daikin fan coils are very quiet, and my personal experience the consumption is lower then ME. Nowaday the model come with RA410 which is more friendly to earth and also cooler.

The compressor at my office broke down and the technican said to repair it is $600, somemore no guarantee that it won't spoil again, cuz its a very old set.

His advice also to change the whole thing, cuz a system 2 is only $1k+.

Thanks everyone for your contributions! I went to search Daikin website and changing the compressor labour cost alone is $800... very ex loh... Then my living room is better than normal (due to hacking of store room and part of kitchen) so end up need to get a 3.5HP compressor in order to turn on aircon in both living and MBR. Even more ex... but of coz no choice need to change... just thinking of the mess if i change everything... :sport-smiley-018:
