Devilaz 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2007 Well this is a tough question. What theme u want for ur house?Ask urself what u want to reno ur house? But to take note that Carpentry and wet work is a killer. So if u want to do a lot of this two u need to set aside quite a lump sum.

Theme - aiming for urban resort.dh had an idea tt he tot may help to save costs that is for the kitchen & living area, he planned to hv cement with tiles as a focus... dunno how to explain. but basically the whole floor wld be cemented. then with some tiles in shapes as focus....capentary wise - all 3 bedrooms wld need some. esp the mst bedrm.Kitchen also cant avoid... for the living area. maybe wont do so extravagrant to help save some cost, I guess. raincole 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 20k - can be done1) You can cut down on your capentry work in the bedrooms and buy those ready-made furniture.2) material-wise, only in the lower-range. Not those 4psf kind.Really depending on you, you can always work around that budget but have to give & take.
oonik grl 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 (edited) i agree with wat raincole said. my budget is somewhere ard this range and we did not do the carpentry work for the other 2 bedrooms. only did the wardrobe for master bedroom and kitchen cabinets for carpentry. no tv console or side drawers. FH and me prefer buying things rather than built in.all other materials are within normal range. we had to do some hard thinking, compromising and sacrifices on what are the needs and the wants.all the best shmj ! LinDa 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 (edited) i think the duration depends on the amt of work you are doing..i know my id can rush one out within 2 wks for his client as the client had no place to move and old place sold..hence it also depends on hw you negotiate to fit into the id/contractor schedule..but coz i told him no rush for mine (i love staying at my parent's place - free minder for son, got maid, free parking, home cook food) and the longer the better so it has been 4 weeks and counting, haha..my reno including electrical is abt $50K, not including sanitary, appliances or furniture coz i'm doing up the whole place and lots of carpentry, false ceilings in all rooms..trying hard not to tink about it.. in fact, i tink hdb owns my house and ntuc income owns my renovation! haha..bills are coming in hard and fast now that i'm into the final stages of renovation..good luck on yrs!! You may want to leave some $$ for the hob&hood and lightings and electrical cost. If bathroom, then the accessories, plumbing and the heater (instant or storage). Furniture wise can adjust to own budget.
