When I was young, my father used to make my brother and me stand on the chair under the lights holding one basin of water over our heads. After a while, all the flies, moth whatever will be stuck in the water.

ya, sounds strange, but works like magic everytime. Just awhile, they will all fly inside. My mum said it's because the heat from the light make them go "swimming" but dunno true or not. LOL

I think maybe its the reflection of the light in the water.. So they will just fly towards the light and then ... drown lor... :sport-smiley-003:

Its the reflection of the light and sometimes the water is moving, so the light will look even stronger, and attracts the insects more.

Further, when some insects are drowned in the water, it will appear to the others that they are staying at the lights for a long time. Thinking that maybe this light is better, they will be curious and come down to join them too.

My grandfather used to use this method too...cos last time there were always alot of flies hovering around my light, my grandfather just filled a pail with water and held it under the flies and voila! after some time, all of them committed suicide. Haven't tried it on moths though. Funny tactic but somehow it works like magic. :sport-smiley-003:
