mercey 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Hi all, I have an urgent query and hope you can help me. If I want to change the DB box for my resale HDB flat, should I rewire the whole house at the same time? Or can I just simply change the DB box without any rewiring? What's the correct way to go about doing it? Please advise. Thank you!!

Mind sharing how much you were charged for the rewiring and change of DB? My place is exactly 9 years, thus not sure if I want to spend such money to rewire and change DB. mercey 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2009 Gt mail Hi coolerpod, Thank you for your message! I tried to reply you but your inbox is full. My ID is actually charging me $450 for the db box, so I thought it is too expensive for just one little box. Did hear of people being charged for the amount you mentioned but not sure how true. Did you renovate your place using an ID but use the mentioned electrician separately?

KTR 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2010 Hi all, We just received our electrical quotation, which was recommended by our ID. We personally think its exorbitant. Any comments from fellow forumers here whether the price is too ex? Or actually reaonable?? 01. Lighting Point ( Count By Number Of Lights ) 35.00 x 16 = 560.00 02. Single Power Point ( 13Amp x 1 Outlet ) 60.00 x 5 = 300.00 04. Double Power Point ( 13Amp x 2 Outlet ) 70.00 x 4 = 280.00 06. Television Point (SCV) 110.00 x 2 = 220 08. Cooker Hood Point ( Fuse Switch ) 60.00 x 2 = 120 11. Telephone Point 45.00 x 1 = 45 13. Speaker Point 60.00 x 2 = 120 14. 2-Way Point 45.00 x 2 = 90 15. Ceiling Fan Point 35.00 x 2 = 70 18. Re-Location Of Switch Point ( Less Than 10ft )** 30.00 x 4 = 120.00 19. Re-Location Of Power Point ( Less Than 10ft )** 30.00 x 3 = 90.00 20. Re-Location Of Telephone Point ( Less Than 10ft )** 30.00 x 1 = 30.00 23. Installation Of Down Light, Wall Light Or Ceiling Light 10.00 x 20 = 200.00 24. Installation Of Hanging Light 40.00 x 1 = 40.00 25. Installation Of Ceiling Fan ( 3 Plate ) 50.00 x 2 = 100.00 28. Installation Of Door Bell 10.00 x 1 = 10.00 29. Installation Of speaker 20.00 x 2 = 40 35. Others: to shift water heater point & heater switch 55.00 x 1 = 55.00 36. Others: To supply 1 gang 1 way switch 12.00 x 4 = 48.00 37. Others: To supply 2 gang 1 way switch 14.00 x 2 = 28 39. Others: To supply 3 gang 1 way switch 18.00 x 2 = 36.00 40. Others: To supply 3 gang 2 way switch 20.00 x 1 = 20.00 41. Others: To supply 13A x 1s/s/o c/w box 25.00 x 11 = 275.00 42. Others: To supply 13A x 2 s/s/o c/w box 30.00 x 10 = 300.00 43. Others: To supply telephone s/s/o c/w box 20.00 x 2 = 40.00 44. Others: To supply scv s/s/o c/w box 35.00 x 3 = 105.00 45. Others: To supply water heater switch s/s/o 35.00 x 2 = 70.00 46. Others: To supply 15A s/s/o c/w box 25.00 x 1 = 25.00 The worst part is, quite a number of items here we don't really understand as we didn't discuss them? For example, why do i need a tel phone point when i am not getting fixed line (did not ask them to do tel point for us), or why do we need 2 cooker hood points? Is 2 way point actually 2 way switch? All help in demystifying this quotation will be much appreciated. thanks all!

I was told that electricans hold the HDB licence in their own name, so in this case, ID is just a middle man. btw,is your quote backed with a electrical floor plan showing the lighting points and switches? or a rough gauge?
