Do you switch off your aircon compressor?

Hi guys/ladies,

Never had this question before until I turned on mine!

do you switch the compressor off when u are not using any fan unit, or do you actually switch it on and leave it there for good?

what are the complications? Cost, lifespan etc..

Actually just turn it on, cause it can actually last for quite long. I feel if you on and off it more often, it will be more costly
