Reskining Of Built In Furniture?

Hi all,

I am in process of completing the sale of a resale flat. The flat is wonderfully renovated with a number of built in furniture (tv console, bed, dinning set etc), but we would like to change the colour scheme of the flat.

I am thinking of changing the laminates of the built in furniture to suit the new colour scheme.

Can anyone advise if this idea is feasible and the rough cost of such an operation?

I think it is very ex in doing that... if I am correct... the carpenter don't change the laminates... they have to change the whole door.... and that cost > half price of the carpentery work..

Tink it is not worth it...cos I asked a lot of contractors/IDs before....

Normally they will wan u to change the whole door....and the price is only 30% difference

from changing the whole carpentary.....

I decided to hack everything after getting the quotes.

Perhaps u can ask around to hv a betta idea...

Cham man.. so far reskinning of the furniture seems to be a bad idea... Anyone else done it before???

I am doing it! I don't like my current wardrobe sliding door, total 4 doors and 2 of it is with full height mirror which makes the door heavy and difficult to push.

Decided to get my contractor to change it to aluminium top track glass sliding door and also change the skin of the wardrobe to to match my sliding door. My contractor qoute me $1300. You can see my reno blog, for the current look of the wardrobe. My wardrobe is pretty big eh.

My reno haven start.. will be starting next week.. will let you know..

but then again, have to see the cost involved.. if the cost of re-skinning is almost the same as tearing down existing ones and construct a new one, then no point re-skin.

Only the border of the wardrobe will be reskin. Actually I have no intention to do it in the 1st place, just change the doors, but my contractor suggested in doing it to look nicer. Here is the pic of the current wardrobe.

Dun tink reskin is worth it.

Perhaps u can ask around for more quotes first.

I had the same idea as u few months back abt changing the laminates

for the carpentary but in the end, I hack everything and redo cos it is more

worth it....
