I just done my house parquet flooring, my contractor quote me only $6 per sqf, it is a pretty good price and services after comparing to a few numbers of contractor. The contractor is Soon Timber Flooring Specialist, can call 9019 6827 for free quotation from them.

Need some advice on pricing for parquet polishing. Was quoted 500-600 by my contractor for 2 bedrooms. Each bedroom about 10ft by 10 ft. Ex?

Got lots of scratches in one of the room, esp. at the door area. not sure if it is due to the door alignment or the parquet rising up. The door will scratch when we open and close it. Sigh.. heart pain

Oh.. SoConfused must be from Mr Wood Varnish la. All 12 comments promoting the company. Hee..

I think the price for parquet polishing for 2bedrooms can be dealed at a range of 400 to 450.

I am very satisfied with the price they quoted and the service they rendered.

The total cost for living room marble floor polishing + 3 bedroom parquet varnishing is $1100.

The job was completed in 2 days. It was 2 days ago and I have not even paid yet!

My condo just did marble polishing before chinese new year. i am oso satisfied with their reasonable price and their service which they are reliable but I found out that the contact no change to 93736661

Common prob faced with Resales Condo/Aprt units where parquet damaged/darken near tiolets & windows. Thanks to Mr Wood Varnish proposed cheap & effective ways to restore and replace badly damaged ones. Only have to spend $800 repairs + grind, sand & varnish for all 3 bedrms. Otherwise i may hv to spend few Ks just to replace floors.

Their surveyors are very pro n knowledgeable. Give clear explanation of how repairs job carry out.

Thanks Soconfused for referral. we did our resale flat parquet flooring with Mr Wood Varnish. They are indeed very professional. All scratches n few repaired pieces look the same after varnishing. These guys are specialist! Not like any other contractors which i experienced before.

[Can I also check for teak, are there lighter or darker tones for them? Cause from what I see, the lighter shades of parquet flooring seems to be the hardwood (maple, birch) rather than teak.]

Burmese or Indonesia Teak to have lighter to darker color however Teak from Indonesia has

slightly lighter color compared to Burmese Teak which has richer Teak oil content.

Depending the adhesive use it is best to allow the wood flooring install on water base adhesive

to completely dry up before sanding and varnish. This is to allow adhesive to bond firmly to

the wood flooring and also allowing the water in the ahesive to evaporate thus minimize any

shinkage that will happen in future. At least allow two weeks for the drying proceed if possible.

Try not to rush through the installation process this will allow the wood flooring to serve you

and your family better and longer.

Based on the photos above, I as a teak specialist for 9 years can verify that they are teak.

Chances are that the teak are from indonesia.

yes. teak has colors ranges from very light yellow, to light brown to dark brown for the base color.

There are stripes that ranges from light brown to black stripes.

depending on the area the tree grows, the soil condition will bring forth the character and the color of the wood.

As for the adhesive part, it is very well said.

My ID advice was to change all the flooring just to ensure there aren't any termites left in the wooden blocks, but my sub con (a friend's recommendation) told me to only change those affected areas and then resand and vanish to save cost.

I need some advice. Should I redo all my flooring or should I just change only the affected area? Will there be hidden termites left in the floor?

It depends on whether the termite colony has been totally exterminated.

You can check on the price on the price of replacing the affected parts & re-sanding the parquet and the cost of re-installing everything new. If the cost difference is small, you may want to do a replacement. Besides replacing with parquet, you may want to consider using bamboo strips or change to tiles. There are pros and cons to each choice.

However, the installer told me if I want to use 12" strips, they need to add wood at the bottom, so that the ends will not pop up. If I do not want to add wood, I will have to use 10"

I am trying to stick to our budget, and really do not want to add additional wood. I consulted Hauhau, they said it is not necessary to add wood even with 12" strips. I dont mind to use shorter 10" strip, but HauHau only hv 10" in indonesian, which might not be as nice as Burmese in terms of color.

Can anyone advice if it is ok to install 12" directly on cement screed without adding wood?

how about your parquet flooring experience? Have u done? How is the outcome? we also just bought 5I resale flat and we'd love to have parquet flooring in 3 bedrooms and living room.. we also prefer burmese teak only.. my frz' flat has indo teak flooring but not very nice.. easy to hav scratches also.. asked hau hau last week, they have only 11 cm thick burmese teak, i think its too thin.. what do u think? your flooring also 11 mm thick?
