Cost Of Parquet Flooring

Hi, can anyone share with me the pricing of parquet psf?

I'm considering to lay it in all my bedrooms.

Hi Wayne,

I just did parquet flooring for my whole house. Three bedrooms and living/dining.

The breakdown:

Teak Parquet

12mm x 2" x 12"

835sft @ $2.30

= $1920

Teak skirting

11mm x 70mm

185 pfr @ $1.20

= $222

Wood glue @ 20kg

6 ctn @ $39.50

= $237.00

GST = $118.98

Installation:

To lay, grind & varnish

835 sft @ $1.20

= $1002

To install & varnish of skirting 70mm

185 pfr @ $0.40

= $74

Total cost: $3574.48

But after the guy came to measure the house, the total price dropped to $2808.28.

base on your final price paid, your psf is around $3.40

i think its a pretty good price.

my contractor quoted me double the price of yours.

Hi Wayne,

I didn't ask my contractor to do it cause it was too expensive. Instead, I went directly to a teak manufacturer and they have their own recommended layers. So I cut out the middle man and paid direct prices.

I then liaised with my contractor with regards to the renovation process so that there wouldn't be any hassles.

Hi, Wow, then doing real parquet is maybe really cheaper than doing laminates! I love the feel of a wooden floor, used to have parquet at my old house. One question, to do parquet, you have to hack the floor?? Cannot overlay right?

Attn: dht,

No matter whether you're laying laminate flooring / even parquet flooring, You must hack the existing floor tiles first as it depends on the age of the house.

Let's say your house is 5yrs & above, my suggestions would be hack first, clear the debris then do cement screeding. In order to cut down the "hollow sound", ask the parquet / laminate company to put the rubber foam under it as it will helps to reduce the hollow sound ups to 70%.

But to me personally, my preferences would be using SUPREME laminate flooring.

1. Parquet you have to resand & varnish over the time but laminate doesn't need to.

2. Parquet isn't scratch proof or scratch resistent but laminate is scratch resistent

3. Laminate is easier to maintain.

4. Laminate flooring now has engineer wood which is meant for commercial usage & also comes with termite resistent effect now. Terminate resistent laminate flooring will comes in only after cny

When you call them, look for Susan she'll advise what's best for your home so bring your floor plan! The "layer" they recommended was Mr. Gan and his workmanship is great.

The guys who lay the wood will actually tell you which pattern is best to make your house look bigger so you might want to ask them for their opinion unless you have something specific in mind.

Had anyone did a platform and top part is parquet? I'm not sure if the ID will just do the raising of the floor and then the installation of parquet done by another company. Anyone?

Hauhau quoted me about $5.00 for 12mm x 2" x 12" burmese teak strips exclusive of installation. Is this considered reasonable?
