What's the reason why ppl dun do renovation during that period of time?HelloThe worst period to do renovation is when you choose a wrong date or period. When that is unable to match or support you, living in the house will be a nightmare.Doing reno in "Qing Ming" or 7th month is alright as long as you choose a proper date to start. If you're mindful about the traditional myths, then skip it until you're comfortable. Remember, everything should be about you rather than about other people. Is it must consult FSM & look at birthdate or can just ask relative to pick generally good date from tongshu? Then when open door and start reno don't light joss stick can or not? Or am I confusing religion with fengshui?

Or am I confusing religion with fengshui?Sorry I think I better clarify - we are free thinkers. So if don't light joss sticks like what some people do (read in some of the posts), is that okay? Just want everyone to live happily in the house. I am totally confused. Thanks in advance.

A good day may be suitable to others but not necessary you. Therefore, you need to check to ascertain. Only a practitioner/ fsm who has the skills will then be able to match the day to you.Somewhere in other post, I have listed out roughly what are the things to do during start reno. For opening door, just select a date from tongshu is good enough. Lighting joss sticks is a custom which is not necessary to follow. Some old folks may advise to do so as a respect or with other meaning. If you think that you want to skip it then do so. However, to select a date for reno and/or move-in is a must.Religion is a faith. Feng Shui is metaphysics.
