REBUILD CORNER TERRACE

Hi y'all. I'm planning to acquire a new home. I have an old corner terrace (>4000 sqft land) to tear down and rebuild a 5000sqft home. Does any have any recent experience with design and build of such a home? Can I do it at a budget of $750K? Any recommendations of a decently priced designer/builder/architect?

to tear down and re-build a corner to 5000sf for $750k is a big ask.

I think more in region of at least $1.2m, probably more.

Current rebuilding cost about $250-$300 psf, depending on the the type of finishes and quality you require.

I am currently reconstructing my house, land 3500 with GFA of almost 7000 sqft at a cost of $1.05m.  If you want me to recommend my architect, you can pm me to discuss.  He specialise in building landed houses.

I am considering rebuilding too and I have seen this magical figure of 300psf so many times.. Could someone pls let me know what kind of quality can we expect from 300psf? possible to get good marble on living/dining room and timber for 2nd floor and up with this 300psf price? Pls also comment on the quality of the toilet? If not too trouble can also pose the pic of houses that can be built with 300psf? Many thanks..

$300 psf x covered area is more like what u see in those heartland condo showflats. Definitely not Twin Peaks standard. 

There is a big difference between what a contractor quote and the final budget of a home owner. $300 does not include consultant fees, authority submission fees and fittings and fixtures and GST.

I built my 5k sq2 semi-d at about $1.8m 3 years ago. Chose above average quality finishing with marble flooring for living/dining, teak flooring for 2nd & 3rd levels, kitchen and toilet counter tops are caesarstone etc

This post made me excited to share my ongoing experience with our own renovations!

We're about 70% into completion of our 5,800+ square foot build and have spent $1.6m so far.  Hub and family are happy with the progress so far and each week passes with new fixtures and exciting discoveries at our new house site. 

My advice is don't be near sighted with trying to save on good quality premium finishing.  Our design architects have put in skylights, selected oak flooring, Dekton counter tops throughout, a master bathroom designed using full travertine slab pieces, double sinks for all the bathrooms (except the maid's bathroom), big glass sliding doors, some wood timber trellis areas and even a little tree in the courtyard inside of the house!

Our new house must serve us for the next 30 years so why keep dreaming of that beautiful Bali Villa you see on the internet or in the magazines when you can actually have your architect designer build one for you and your family to enjoy!

Choose your designers and contractors well as your house will be in their hands from the ground up.  Money aside (!!) , the joy you will get from watching your house take form and shape as time passes will surely be an amazing and surreal experience.  We're also lucky our designers have documented our renovations from the day the old house was demolished till present in the form of a build dairy so we didn't need to take pictures for ourselves.  

My latest Now dilemma is whether to use Gaggenau, De Dietrich or Miele kitchen appliances. My architect says Miele but we've missed the sale alrerady!  Any advice for me please?

Most of the builders I spoke to quoted $300 psf of gfa. This is for the building only and excludes finishing such as tiles, wardrobes and cabinets. For 5000sq ft gfa, you should be looking at around $1.5M.
