zirhk3355 1 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 i do not think any of us forummer on this thread belong to that category of resident but all said and done, it just boils down to one thing....Civic Counsciousness, 95% of Singaporeans lack this attribute I agree, but in a more light-hearted way, how can we resolve this?? Get more neighbours to join us in Renotalk or THUM!! You see, if you are on good terms with almost all the units on the same floor; would you (or your neighbours) throw rubbish and dirty the public spaces? Some of our forummers here know their neighbours left-right-centre; I am sure they would be more careful when wanting to throw rubbish. People becomes less civic-minded when they do not feel a sense of belonging; just like you would just rinse your office's cups but wash those at home thoroughly. When disgruntled, it becomes worse - why should I care for something that I hate so much? Once they feel inclusive, they would naturally care for environment like their own. TYM 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 I'd think it defeat the purpose of a centralised bin. some jus walk out and throw on the floor instead. Cos of that, I've seen red ants crawling around the floor area, even at high floor. My floor also have, like to leave their rubbish on the floor at the common rubbish chute. What to do, we pick it up and throw for them lor, if not ants and rodents will come very fast. no lah, actually is the mentality of the pple lah (becos "they" think outside is corridor, town concil every month will sent pple to wash wan. So just throw! Don care much!). Education is bery impt dats why must teach our kids the proper way of throwing things away. New hdb still ok lah cos majority household is singaporean. Currently i'm staying in west coast (lots of foreign talent....), i can tell u its even worst even with the rubbish cute in each household..... old furniture can somehow appear out of nowhere and block the stairs! fire harazds haiz. Education??? ... Does it work??? Kids, hmm, nowdays they probably get their maid to throw the rubbish for them... another Monday Blues grumbling ...
oda 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Just went over to check on my new house and emptied some trash and was really pissed n annoyed that the neighbour is so so inconsiderate that he threw his trash on the floor with lots of cig butts there! WTH? Can't he just step on the refuse chute n threw it in? Whats wrong with these people?!? Also while i am leaving the blk, there were somebody throwing used tissues off his/her hse, I tried to stand there to see if i can catch the person but failed. Anyway, I hope if you read these n you are one of those inconsiderate mf. Please spare a thought for others n help keep our living compound clean!!! PLEASE. Btw, i am staying at blk 91. There's once I saw a dog or cat sh*t (can't be from human right?) inside the rubbish chute making the whole chute smell... 丑陋的新加坡人?
armani 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 (edited) It's not just rubbish alone. i've seen irresposible dog owner that let his dog poo on the grass patch along the road without clearing up the mess. it's NOT fertilisers for the grass or trees in any case. one classic case was that a dog owner did not notice i was looking at him as i was sitting at a corner of the void deck and he had plastic bags in his hands but after his dog had done it's "business"... he actually looked ard and thought no one was saw him, thus went off without clearing the faeces. i guess if he noticed someone was looking at him then probably he would clear the faeces. windy 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 Hi all, A bit out of point here. Anybody know if we have some CPF investment say about 20K, do we need to withdraw it to pay for the flat? Assuming now we have enough left in CPF to pay for the downpayment. We were thinking to withdraw at a later date to pay for the monthly installment.
zirhk3355 1 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 You need to really calculate all the stamp fee, grant, first month instalment, etc - cannot just take the downpayment as a ballpark, its very inaccurate. There are alot of other upfront payments as well. There's a financial calculator at HDB website for you to check on all these.

Assuming now we have enough left in CPF to pay for the downpayment. We were thinking to withdraw at a later date to pay for the monthly installment. i would ask u what is the performance trend for your 20k investment. how much can you 20k reap in terms of profits versus the loan interest on your principal. which gives you better returns? then decide if it is better to hold on to your investment or use it as additional downpayment. however, if your plan is to leave this 20k as a buffer for your monthly loan installments then it is a different consideration process altogether. my personal process is to pay up for liability as quickly as possible so you are not worried about your employer or the economy holding you at ransom Edited May 6, 2008 by deepakvali

Assuming now we have enough left in CPF to pay for the downpayment. We were thinking to withdraw at a later date to pay for the monthly installment. I think what she is asking is 'Is it compulsary to withdrew from the investment to pay for HDB downpayment'. And the answer is NO. As long as you have enough to pay for all the required downpayment and ALL the fees, it is up to you whether you want to sell your investment for this first payment or keep it as reserve. I did keep my investment as a reserve as well in case of rainy days. Its up to everyone's opinion. Also to take note that CPF regulation has changed with regards to withdrawing for investment. That means if you return your money into CPF, you will not be able to draw out again for other investment as you will need to have a minimum 20K in OA. windy 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 Thanks all for the quick reply. Now I understand le. Yes we do have enough now to pay for the downpayment and the other fees. Just want to confirm if the we can keep the money in our investment to use as a buffer for our monthly installment just in case one of us stop working for any reason. The pricing for Tanglin Halt units a bit high lah...so must really calculate properly before committing. Was deciding between Punggol BTO or Tanglin Halt. But we went to look at the Tanglin Halt unit and really like it a lot. Very near to my home too
