neighbours so far ok. except for the one directly opp my unit. Not too much of smiles or nodding of head even when i took the initiative. Generally i guess our neighbourhood is surrounded by old ppl due this is relatively an old estate. but glad to find lots of very nice ppl in this forum. we even had a meet up earlier this yr. but sorry for not turning up for THUM. due to too busy schedule.... my apologies. maybe we can all meet up n discuss on our new neighbour coming in after the jan ballot n key collection

yes i do know this estate is old and many old pple ard as i used to live nearby. my fren who helps out at the grassroots level also told me that due to the age and income levels of residents in this estate, you will come across a certain breed of residents, esp those from the 3 roomers and some 4 roomers. in his words, 'love the location, but can't say the same for the environment.'

so jus wanna know from the viewpoints of those who are already staying there.

eyeing the 5. jus came back from a recee of the plc. seems like the sound of the passing mrt amplifies throughout the entire estate, even when we were at the 22nd storey.

checked out strathmore ave after dat and it much quieter. only downside amenities such as food n provision shops quite a distance to walk.

Hi turborama, thanks for your comments! Well for the environment, I think its quite ok compared to some other mature estates that I had stayed in before. But this is really subjective so its really up to you to consider personally...

funfun08, for the ID it depends on what kind of services you require. What I was really saying is for the ID to see if this a good layout for them to make it into an interesting home. But if you want them to work on it, drawing designs and such, of course there will be charges, which ranges from different IDs.

For recommendations, well that's another personal matter. To me a good ID is someone who can communicate with me, that means everyone's opinion of "good ID" is different. You really have to read thru the forum and see all the recommendations and complaints, then visit a few yourself to find out if they suit you. Trust me, it will be fun!

Actually once you are in the house, the sound is not that obvious unless you really keep your ears open for it. I mean at least for my unit, not sure about the others. I guess Blk 90 should be better in this case as it is not right next to the track/station.

some gains have be to compromise. The MRT serve you jus next to your doorstep with shops & supermarket within the premise are the plus points. Noise level will depend on individual. Imagine those country like Japan, with railway track along their house? They still live with it. I'm not very comfortable with overly quiet place.

Human beings sure are hard to satisfy. Stay too near mrt, complain noisy, stay too far mrt, complain transport not convenient. !!

My unit is on #25, blk 91. Can hear the mrt sound but like what jule say, it is not that obvious once u r in the house. My previous hse was on #02, facing a main road with 1 pri sch, 1 sec sch and 1 jc along the same stretch of road. So every morning is like a automtic wake up call with all the human and road traffic from 6am onwards. The sound from the mrt is really nothing, u will get used to it.

For this reason, I chose an unit that faces away from the MRT track. Not sure how much it helps though, cos the fact is, no matter which level our units are on, sure can hear the MRT. Heard that the noise tends to get amplified the higher we stay. True or not huh? :dancingqueen:

Definitely true. I also cannot believe it myself, but every morning at zhun-zhun 7:30am, I can hear the assembly music of Clementi Town Sec Sch, followed by national anthem. It sounds like they are singing right outside my windows! And if the teacher or principal gives a short speech, I can tell you exactly what s/he said!

But I am quite used to it lah; previously I was at Blk 33 Tanglin Halt, near the church, indian temple and railway. At 6am, can hear the train chooing away, then followed by the bells ringing from the indian temple at 6:30am.

But as HOME2BE said, some gain, some loss. Convenience and quietness never come together; to me got people and buzz means improved 'ren qi', good fengshui leh!!
