skyspectrum 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 Happy New Year to All Residents in Tanglin Halt All the best for 2008 !!!!I just come back from Mt Faber, nice firework at there. I think Marina will be impressive... Happy New Year to all. its the 2nd working day of 2008! My wife and I were at Esplanda counting down and the fireworks I would were fantastic. We have been counting down to NY and CNY at Esplande coming to almost 5 years consecutive. And the displays are getting better each year, and of course more interesting and grand. Vivocity's cant be compared to that of Esplande though our area is nearer to VC.Congrats to JS21 that you have finally settled down in your unit. Your hubby mut be dead tired by midnight. Both my wife and I slept at ard 2.30am and woke up at ard 11am in the morning. Hehehe ....I saw the contractors are laying some concrete at the roadside facing the chicken rice stall. Are they expanding the road or pathway for us to walk or both? Now the millipedes king & queen are out for holiday. Can really see the fat long brownish millipedes. Though harmless, they look awful and maybe the birds see them also fly away. Okie, hear from the neighbours again and dreamz ... on a rainy Thursday morning! JS21 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 Last night I got a very warm welcome from my neighbours below!! My husband was doing some late drilling at 10+pm. The father and daughter tag team came up, scolding and ranting away at poor me since I was the one who opened the door to them. Good grief, even if they're unhappy, I thought they could have been abit more pleasant about it. Moreover the woman was ranting away about kids stomping away which was totally irrelevant since there're none, and asked me rudely if there're kids in the house. In all my years living in different neighbourhoods, just my good luck to meet such friendly lovely neighbours!Congrats to JS21 that you have finally settled down in your unit. Okie, hear from the neighbours again and dreamz ... on a rainy Thursday morning!Thank you! We slept throughout New Year's day, woke up, took pictures, post on blog, eat, sleep again, then finally started clearing away some mess again. It's so cooling here at Tanglin Halt I didn't even on the fan last night! Ahhh...first time in years, saving so much electricity!!

Wah ... u meant they literally came all the way up to tell you about the noises your hubby created?Maybe next time I shd try gg down to my neighbours and tell them not to smoke at the kitchen windows as the smoke always "flies" into our house via the kitchen. Anyway, new estate means new neighbours lor. What to do? Btw, are you staying in Blk 91? My floor was only washed once back in mid-Dec07. Hopefully they will wash another time in Jan08 (checked the notice at 1st floor notice board, 11-14 Jan). So that our estate/block looks neat and nice when visitors come to visit our new houses during housewarming and CNY.Yes, the weather is very cooling at night. The winds are chilled & strong, and most of the time, I would say no fans or aircon are required for a good soundless night sleep. Btw, anyone has subscribe to Starhub cable for watching ESPN & Soccer? How much now? Good reception? ANyone can recommend what home theatre system? Budget abt $500?Okie, hear fom you again. Cheers.haha... that could be good thing that they wash the corridor again as the other time the washing could be November task. Yeah! That is why we are paying for conservancy fees. Hehehe. Edited January 3, 2008 by skyspectrum

VERY FAST and extreme reaction..They were not there to tell us nicely, they were at my doorstep to SCOLD! I opened the door, and without even a cordial hello, BOTH of them immediately started scolding and scolding me at the SAME TIME!! Very nasty neighbours I have.Talking about smoke, I also keep smelling the neighbour's cigerette smoke whiffing into my home, quite annoying too. Yep, I'm staying at Blk 91. Aiyoh, what to do, a little bit of annoyance in exchange for a great location..

You cannot control them, but you can control yourself, esp when faced with your loved ones becoming angry with you.Maybe next time I shd try gg down to my neighbours and tell them not to smoke at the kitchen windows as the smoke always "flies" into our house via the kitchen. If smoke outside then corridor dirty, how?? Then got to wash corridor four times a month. I hope you won't really go confront them, because it definitely will spark more quarrels.Live and let live lor - again its not about the environment compromising to suit you, but how you can compromise to suit the environment. You could have simply closed your kitchen windows, right?Hope my post is not too harsh, but we do not live on an island alone; 80% Singaporeans stay in hi-rise HDB. Even if stay in landed, there is still people like the Everitt Rd case.I bet all of us, at one time or another, have met unreasonable people; but why only some of us (eg Everitt Rd case) get into so much trouble?? So is it the problem of other people, of is it your problem?Erm I am not a saint ah, everyday I also have to remind myself of this. Hope this chicken soup for the soul helps... Hope this chicken soup for the soul helps... zirhk has brought up good views on this.I was fortunate to have understanding neighbours as my renovation was ongoing after they moved in. The debris was laying in the corridor for days and it got into their way of walking as my unit was between them and the lift. I am glad for their tolerance and understanding during the reno period. At times, we still have to think of what might have cause the unhappinesses. Most people would not have want to go for a confrontation unless there were extreme unhappinesses caused to them. Have we thought about if there was really anything that has caused such strong reaction from them ? I heard of a case whereby a nearby friend can hear his neighbour couple quarrelling and 'shouting' at each other early in the morning, then sometimes also can hear quarrelling during the day. I think my friend has yet to "feedback" to that couple, hoping the couple would self-reflect and stop these "unhappinesses".I hope our neighbourhood will all live in harmony

Ya lor that time Nov washing didnt carried, quite patient to wait for few weeks after got advise from TC that need time for "special washing". Until end dec then seen washing carried out to my level thus wonder whether is it Nov or Dec washing schedule. Anyway as long as washing carried out, it fine else pay conservancy still see our area dirty, quite disappointing lor ;-)
JS21 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 I see some neighbours washing their own common area instead of waiting for the town council. Will intend to do the same. That's one of the difference between HDB and condo, where the latter have cleaners washing the whole estate and every level EVERYDAY! Since our's HDB, so I'm not expecting much. I only hope those millipedes, big & small will all go away!

Alternatively, I think it's ok if you pay a visit to your neighbours and tell nice NICELY that their secondhand smoke is causing you health problems. Heh, I might just do that if it gets too much!
