prismo 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Thanks for the info. Will bear in mind. Will do my contractor search first before anything else.Well, MiniCrystals, like I mentioned, is a type of man-made stone. Its price, generally, is comparable to mid-ranch marble. However, if we were to target at one specific colour ... say pure white. Pure white marble is very expensive and very porous. A cheaper alternative would then be white minicrystal stone. Price for white minicrystal stone is about a quarter of that of white marble. In addition, minicrystal has a porosity indicator of almost zero. I tested it by pouring red wine onto the minicrystal tile. It wipes of clean Contractors will of course recommend their own suppliers cos they do earn from there. I have friends who got the stones from me, then ask their contractor's tilers to lay the flooring for them.As to your concern regarding stains on marble .. well .. natural stones have their own charms ... and their quirks... as do all other materials.Another way of minimising your headache over the choice of materials, is to first set your budget. Once you have the budget in mind, look for materials that fall within your range. From there, weigh their pros and cons.!!Hi Yob,$7+/sqft ? Where's the marble from ? China - poorer quality?
