Should we give him the keys'? If he quotes us a sky high price later, are we obliged to pay since he has performed the work? For everything in what u doing, please confirm a price and date of handling over before the works begin. A lot of fourm members got themselves into troubles when not careful in handling the situation and finance. The worst thing is u pay them upfront to start work without sketches(hand or 3D), final contract and house keys. we have finally received the quotation over the weekend, but have not handed our keys cos we needed time for consideration. based on the itemized list, we obtained quotes from 2 other individual contractors and both managed to cut the total by only a few hundreds.. so our original contractor's quote is reasonable it seems. we're more or less decided on going ahead with our intended contractor whom we feel comfortable with.. as well as to not delay the reno start date further. currently waiting for his final contract print-out, and one last laminate sample to choose. will probably be signing the final contract this week and give him the deposit + key together.
