im currently residing in tiong bahru estate, pre war houses, orange 4-5 stories type with spiral staircase.

thinking of having a major overhaul, after living in here for 28years. but not sure how to begin... which walls can knock off, how to budget, concepts...

would like to see if anyone here has done up any units here before, and seek your advise and sharing

Hi Celltono, I'm going to be your new neighbour. I've just bought Block 28 (post office block) and I'm still deciding on contractor Do you have the floor plan? If not, can buy from HDB at $5 I think. From there, a contractor will be able to advise which walls are structural, and which can be hacked.

Just to share, in case our layout is the same, I'm knocking down the wall between toilet and shower, that's all

By the way, my valuation report states that the flat was built in 1973. and from what I understand, not all the blocks are under conservation area. Those nearer the main road may risk going en bloc. I hope I won't kena cos I really love the place and the flat itself!
