Installation Of Ikea Hanging Light

Hi all!

I bought an Ikea hanging light last week but have been having difficulty installing it.

The wires of my lighting point is green/yellow & black whereas the Ikea one is blue and brown.

I read some guides online but I'm still not sure how to do it. (Most of the guides are for US-based homes and I think the wiring colors are different?)

I found an electrician online, who quoted me $35 for light installation & $45 for transport.

Is this price good?

I was hoping to install the light myself if possible, but i'm kinda worried i will screw it up haha.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

1. Turn off the circuit breaker and off the light switch.

2. Check with test lamp to confirm there is no power.

3. Connect the 2 yellow wires to the brown wire.

If you cannot push in the 2 yellow wires, use another connector.

4. Connect the 2 black wires to the blue wire.

5. The yellow green wires should connect to the metallic frame or housing of the lamp.

6. Turn on circuit breaker.

7. Turn on light switch.
