All looking good!!

Love the Bosch dryer and so cool to have a dish washer, really wish I can get one too.

But 1 person can't find a good reason to do so.

Hope your sofa issue can fast fast resolve.

Renovation updates - end of renovations + last payment

It's been a long past week...fiance and I took turns to fall sick and I had to liaise with the sofa company the whole week to try and resolve our issues... :bangwall:

So right after we realized the sofa was the wrong colour and design, I immediately called up the shop to tell them that it's wrong :angry2: The shop lady said their main office is closed for the weekend and advised me to call back on Monday. So, I spent a restless weekend worrying about whether the company was going to be responsible or not. Then came Monday, I called the shop and spoke to the sales person on the line. She said she was new to this job and apparently, the sales lady who sold me the sofa is no longer working there. I requested for a resolution to my problem and she could only repeat that she has forwarded my issue to the head office and I have to wait for them to contact me. When I asked how soon I could expect a call from them, she was unable to promise me anything. :furious: Worse thing is, when I asked for her manager's name or contact number, she couldn't tell me! She kept saying she just walked into the shop for an interview by a lady called Ms Tan and if she had orders placed, she will call the factory delivery line. She couldn't even tell me if this shop had other branches under the same company. Only thing she kept repeating was,"I'm new here." Seriously super pissed off with her. :fire: Left with no other recourse, I had to wait till Tuesday to call the factory delivery line as they had already closed on Monday. I was assigned to this person called Cindy and she basically said that the colour code on the order form submitted by the sales lady was wrong. It was coco and not light grey (I knew the colour was off! 8| ) and she gave the excuse that the design changed because a few customers previously complained that the stitching caused the leather to tear...What nonsense! I told her I was promised genuine top grain cow hide so how can the leather tear so easily? :argue: After ding-donging back and forth for the next few days, we managed to get them to promise to deliver a new piece in the correct colour and original design by 29 Dec. Although we seriously regretted buying our sofa from this shop, I'm glad that Cindy was so patient in trying to resolve the issues for us...I must commend her on being so patient as me and my fiance took turns to call and scold her/the company :curse: Now, we are just praying that they will deliver the sofa in the right colour and design on 29 Dec...

Other than the sofa, everything else seems to be falling in place. Today was another busy day as the painter came by to touch up on some areas...unfortunately, I wasn't around when he did the touch ups and I still found some areas which are not satisfactory. Our ID promised that he will get the painter to come down again so that I can ask him to do the touch ups wherever necessary. I told him if the painter really can't fulfill my expectations, I will do the paint touch ups myself! :paint:

Carpenter also came by and initially said they had thrown away all the excess laminates used for the kitchen cabinet and that it was not economical to buy a new roll just to replace the small piece which had chipped. Apparently, the carpenter suggested either using a different coloured laminate or nail down our in built oven to cover the chipped portion. I exploded when I heard that and told my ID that neither of these options are acceptable to me and I don't care how he does it but I want the laminate to be perfect. Eventually, our ID decided to ask the carpenter to just buy a new roll and return another day to replaced the chipped laminate...was appeased after hearing that :bleah:

The other rectifications went quite smoothly. The missing glass panel has been put up, the faulty light bulb exchanged and replaced, the soap ledges installed and our ID's workers came down to clean up the kitchen, toilets and window grills. Really appreciate that nothing is too minor for them and our ID also rolled up his sleeves to help clean up alongside his workers :good: As there were no outstanding major issues, we decided to go ahead and pay off the balance of our renovation fees. Overall, I'm quite thankful that we didn't have any major complications during our renovations and the hiccups which appeared were promptly settled by our ID or his boss. Will write a detailed review on our ID soon... :yamseng:

Our completed kitchen with the final piece of tempered glass backsplash installed!

Our hallway (our ID's favourite part of the house) with all 4 working spotlights! :sport-smiley-018:

image_113.jpegimage_115.jpeg

Our completed master toilet where my fiance used the toilet bowl for the first time! He said it was pretty comfortable and the flush was good :notti:

Last but not least, our main door and digital lock was installed today! :dancingqueen:

image_116.jpegimage_117.jpeg

Even though the new door and lock cost us a bomb, I have totally no regrets! Super happy with both items...the guy who came to install our doors said most people will also end up changing their gates after replacing their main doors :P I would love to if it wasn't so expensive! For now, I think we're happy to keep our grey gate as it matches quite nicely with our door. We had a lot of fun configuring our Samsung digital lock too and I remembered another renotalker's advice to have one person inside the house when trying out the lock for the first time just in case we get locked out! Wise advice indeed... :yeah:

We still have some minor issues to settle before we can officially say renovations are over...but at least, I can see the end of the tunnel already :sport-smiley-004:

Went down to the house today to do some spring cleaning and to add some furnishing.

image_120.jpeg?1449406055077&14494060561

Took us about half an hour to hang these 3 paintings up as the OCD me kept instructing my fiance to shift 1mm to the right/left/up/down to make sure they were aligned perfectly :bleah:

We found this amazing tile grout cleaning solution from Self-fix at Star Vista and we are blown away by how effective it is! As we didn't touch the original floor tiles during renovation, there were some uneven discoloration in a few areas and the grout lines were quite black. The cleaning solution worked its magic and now, our floor tiles look as good as new! :dancingqueen:

So happy to see the floors so shiny now! Now, we're left with the dining room, hallways and bedrooms to clean...

Our living room will be perfect if the sofa had been the right colour...le sigh :bangwall:

Love the corridor too!

The corridor look so grand, like a grand entrance feeling. Super love it.

All looking great, and pray for you too on the sofa issue.

Thanks guys! Hopefully all the issues can be resolved by end of this year :D

Hi

Like to check with you regarding the Samsung digital lock you installed.

What is the space needed between the door and the gate? Thanks

Hi Markng37,

I went to measure and the space between our main door and gate is 7.5cm. The depth of our Samsung lock is 7cm so it's just a very small allowance!

From left to right - Bosch dryer, LG washing machine, Bosch dishwasher (all fitted onto the existing ledge) :dribble:

What's missing from your kitchen top are some green plants!

Do you want to stack your Bosch dryer over your dishwasher? Not sure if it can be done. Looks to me it can be done. If you want, I can give you my stacking kit.

Thanks for your offer Ks Toh! But, we aren't thinking of stacking the dishwasher and dryer and we purposely bought machines with the dimensions that could fit together into that space :P Appreciate your offer anyway!

My fiance would agree with you on the green plants! I'm too lazy to take care of plants actually...so I've been saying no...but maybe we can consider getting those small potted ones from IKEA which need minimal maintenance :notti:

Hey Yakult! We bought the main door together with the digital lock as a package from MyDigitalLock for $2200. It's so expensive because my main door has to be fire-rated and it's 2 leafed...I'm really happy with the final product and the service was good too so, no complaints...just that I can still smell the sizzle from the burnt hole in my pocket :~

As for the grout cleaning solution, I'll take a photo of it when I go back to the house again k?
