We have a Crock-Pot (that exact brand) from when we spent a year in London, though we didn't get the model you were looking at. We tried using it to do chinese soups but somehow soups cooked with pork ribs (the way you would for 2-3 hours on the stove) taste different when cooked with a crock-pot. Not bad, but not the same taste. We do use it for things like simmered soy sauce pork ribs etc, and there are good recipes online for various crock-pot stuff, but we wouldn't use it for soup.

Anyone has experience with Crock-Pot to share? Think it's the American equivalent of our asian brands slow cooker... But not sure how good they are for Asian cooking such as soup, porridge & stew.

Thanks for sharing your shopping list, the KitchenAid kitchen tools looks good, maybe I should copy cat buy one set try try.

For the Crock-Pot, I not too sure and never use before, I think you should go check what is the power voltage is using in this pot.

Noob question: must we press the checkout button at exact stroke of 12am, US time on 27?? :)

I'm still waiting for some prices to drop, to the point to segregating my purchases to around $126 for free shipping... haha!

Some of the deal will be out day to day I think, btw you have to wait till black friday happen in US most of the time.

You will only be able to see the deal or visual.

Thank you for sharing your firsthand experience with Crock-Pot! Sounds good enough to me for a start. Guess i will go ahead & give it a try! :sport-smiley-018:

(Is multi-quote not working?)

I was sold by how good the KitchenAid tools look too! And it's KitchenAid...so i thought it should be good. But then I saw bykaraanne's comment and went to read through some reviews in Amazon... It seems quite bad :(

Wanted to buy the KitchenAid set but wasn't too impressed by the reviews! but it is great value and looks awesome!

Wah thank you for highlighting it to me!

I totally skip the review because I thought KitchenAid should be good + the items looks so good in photo... haha. Now that I've went to read the reviews... I think i might not get it le. So many of them said it will melt :jawdrop: and the quality is disappointing.

Any other brands for kitchen tools to recommend? :D

Oh and also another note on the Crock-Pot, it might just be our model but the lid for ours doesn't close super tightly (or might be too light) so when we are cooking stuff with a lot of liquid like soup the escaping air will lift the lid very slightly and there will be liquid bubbles popping. First time this happened and we didn't realize we came home to the kitchen countertop wet with soup. After that we usually put a rag/kitchen cloth either on top of the lid or on the countertop where we think the liquid will go to. After a while we identified which position the lid should be to minimize the leakage and marked the lid and the pot with marker so that we can align it again properly next time. Not sure whether this will happen to you but it's not a huge issue. Just sharing tips! :)

Thanks! That's really helpful and important to know. :good: I shall not use it when nobody's home for the 1st few time of using then. See if the lid is tight enough. If air will lift the lid and liquid starts boiling out... then i guess it's not very safe to leave it on in the morning before leaving for work eh.

Hi toh! Thanks for the helpful comment!

I've checked with my ID with regards to this and he said there's no issue with the air ventilation. It's not the first time he's installing this slimline hood model...and they didn't encounter any problem. I also checked HoeKee website & they did a clear write up on this. Maybe I'll call up Bosch helpline directly for more info. :) anyway carpentry is already fabricating... Too late to do anything now hahahahaha.

Hi there! Most slimline hoods will have an air outlet on top if I am not wrong. So the hood will suck the hot air from the cooking, the grease filter or charcoal filter will filter out the grease and oil while the remaining hot air escapes from the top air outlet. My parents just recently renovated their kitchen with an addition of a Fujioh slimline hood. My dad discovered the laminate of the cabinet shelf directly above the hood has started to warp (less than 6 months), likely from the hot air. He resorted to putting a piece of metal between the hood and the shelf to prevent further damage. So he advised me not to build a shelf directly above the hood when fabricating our kitchen carpentry.

What goes in must come out. So, there is definitely a 150 mm outlet at the top. From what I can read, since this slimline model is installed flush against the cabinet above it, you need to cut a hole in the cabinet for the exhaust vent and set aside the top cabinet (or at least one compartment) to allow the hot exhaust air to go there. The following video is for another brand but the method of installation should be similar.

Thanks for the insights! I called Bosch hotline and the CSO said for normal home cooking, their slimline hood won't make the cupboard greasy & smelly. However, the CSO I spoke to doesn't sound very convincing...so I shall take her words 50/50. As it's too late to make any carpentry changes at this stage, we just have to try & see the outcome. If it really cause smell & grease, we shall cover the top opening with aluminum foil ba :P

Toh, the video shows that they did not cut a hole on the cabinet on top of the hood. If my carpenter do the same (no hole, same as the YouTube you shared) then I guess it won't affect the cabinet on top of the hood :)

Site Visit - 25.11.2015

By far the most happy site visit to date!

Mr. B told us the things that needs to be done this week will all be done on Wednesday (today), as follows:

  1. Clean up the whole place
  2. Install whole house skirting
  3. Install all glass panels in kitchen & MBR bathroom

I was a bit skeptical with this list to be completed in 1 day... because the past 7 weeks of reno feels so s..l..o..w.. Nonetheless, we decided to drop by today to take a look at the progress... and even prepared to come back tomorrow to see any updates on incomplete job. To our surprise, everything was done! PLUS TWO BONUS:

  1. All the bedrooms' doors are installed! (he told us it will be installed tomorrow) :good: :good:
  2. Our bronze tinted mirrors are installed! (he didn't tell us it's ready lol)

Also, all the lighting switches in the living room had been properly installed & configured. :sport-smiley-018:

Photos up next!

Hi Yakult! Looks like your house is progressing nicely :good: Noticed your window grilles are grey in colour! Did you paint them or did they come in this colour?
