I considering to do all drawers like this

gallery_70201_7_1424.jpeg

Pros and cons, all drawers are easily accessible, slide out and viola, all in sight.

However drawers generally reduces the length, breadth, width and height. Ie “eaten” by the drawer itself. So sometimes you may find that the item to be store is just that 1cm more, else it would be a perfect fit.

Next come the issues of runners (the sliding open/close) for drawers, if all go for Blum, cost may be a hindrance but to do a mixture of Blum and non Blum, in the long run one may forget which Blum is and which is not, resulting in just use whatsoever.

Best solution is to have a mixture of drawers and cabinets. Also do consider the handles, if handles are available, the tendencies to use it as a hanger is here. The one in the picture is also a hazard as well. Imagine one is standing near and move quickly along it, one may get a bruise or an abrasion when hit the handles.

ID will charge more for Blum, they will buy for the carpenters to install, or carpenters will buy themselves. Do note that if you supply hinges and runners, doesn’t mean carpentry will refund you the difference from the total work.

I supplied Blum to the carpenters, ID is kind enough to offer a discount on the carpentry.

Blum is got is not from Blum directly but another source who offer a much more competitive price.

Thanks for the insights!

Oh we won't be having cabinet handles because we also see it as a hazard haha. As for the BLUM issue... we shall see how when we discuss on carpentry. Maybe just stick to 1-2 BLUM tracks for heavy duty usage so won't forget which ones.

Thanks for the heads up! Shall check with my ID when we go into carpentry details :)

Not sure if this is useful for you.

When discussing the kitchen carpentry, you may want to specify the internal drawer depth to be 50cm. Ikea internal drawer depth is 50cm and they have a wide range of internal accessories (cutlery tray etc) that fit nicely inside.

Blum standard runner is 50cm but also comes in 55cm. So get the 55cm ones.

Wah that's great price! Ours was down from the original S$1359. Samsung did give a S$100 grocery voucher though. For our washing machine, GC throw in a free hot water thermo pot hahaha.

I got my fridge and washing machine in August when Samsung was having the SG50 cashcard promotion instead. But till now, I have not received my cashcard from them.

Grocery voucher is better cos you just fill in the redemption form, go to the counter and can collect already. I got the grocery voucher for buying Samsung's microwave. hehe

Hmmm so you suggest to get 50cm for internal drawer depth... then how to get 55cm for the Blum runner?

That's good to know! :) the voucher is Samsung's promo till 20 Nov i think... As my delivery should be in Dec, they said Samsung will have other (maybe same or maybe different) promo for Dec (free gift is tag to delivery month)... so hopefully it's still gonna be vouchers or something better! :D

Just let the ID & carpenter know you want 50 cm internal depth for your drawers and they should get the longer runners.

Electrical Works

ID Mr. B just sent us photos of the work progress for this week till date!

Living room floor tilings are finally done (!) and all covered up with protection sheet. Electrical works look almost done... so next 2 days, they will be doing up the false ceiling! :sport-smiley-018:

For the downlights...

Mr. B is trying to confirm the date with HDB contractor for our bedrooms floor screeding... which seems to take forever. I hope the screeding could be done by next week to officially complete the wet works. :)

End of Week 4

Was back to my parents place over the weekend and went furniture shopping! :)

Visited StarLiving at Sungei Kedut. Saw many good reviews about their service and it was true indeed. The lady who served us was very patient & never push us to buy at any point. She just let us know the info we need, and let us decide without any pressure. Didn't set out to buy anything on this visit initially. But since we found what we liked, and with such good service, we went ahead. :) Bought our 3+2 Sofa set & Dining set 4 chairs + 1 bench. :sport-smiley-004:

So I guess we've cleared all the big items. Now is just waiting for reno to progress & delivery of items. *faster faster faster!!!*

Monday (2nd Nov 2015)

Mad-rush our ID to fix a date for bedrooms floor screeding by hdb contractor. The contractor can actually do it today or tomorrow, but there were so much rubbish in the 3 bedrooms (contractor took photos and sent me lol). So now have to wait for ID to arrange his workers to clear the room so screeding can proceed. Finally fixed the date... it will be done on this Wednesday.

We will be finalizing our HERF on that day too :)

End of Week 3

Today, we went back to Gain City @ Marina Sqaure to purchase our Samsung Fridge & frontload Washer. The boss of this outlet gave us the best prices we could find. It's even lower than what GAB quoted. :sport-smiley-018:

The past 3 weeks, reno progress seems a bit slow. Is it normal for demo & wet-work stage? Our reno schedule is target to complete by mid-December (a total of 10 weeks). Can't wait for carpentry stage to start! :D

I was also aiming this fridge! Do you mind pm me the price you got?
