Ok! So as promised, here are the details of what we bought so far (kitchen and 2 bathroom) all in all, we spent about $2,940. pretty ok, i think.

cooker hob - fujioh, from Hoe Kee

cooker hood - fujioh, from Hoe Kee. it was a package of $699 + $40 (cos we chose the white hob). we liked the hob because it has 3 rings, and one of them is the 'inner flame' ring. apparently it's better for cooking cos the flame won't waver if u switch on the fan or if there's wind!

kitchen sink from Hoe Kee. we have very limited counter space, so the best we could do was this kinda sized sink. more depth. anyway it looks pretty nice so we're ok with it. haha.

master bathroom rain shower + instant heater. this was my husband's and my way of compromise - he prefers instant heater and i really wanted a rain shower. so we got this!

common toilet shower + instant heater

master bathroom basin. we are building a vanity top with a kompacplus surface. so this will sit on top.

common toilet vanity top - readymade from Hoe Kee. $380.

bidets, 2 pieces - from Wasser. it was about $28 each i think. forgot!

cold taps! we bought 2 pieces for the 2 toilets. also from Wasser. about $54 each.

the toilet bowl, thanks to Lazyfatcat007! $220 each, inclusive of gst and delivery.

we bought some other small stuff too, like shower baskets and towel racks. i didn't get photos of them. but overall, we were impressed with Wasser's reasonable prices. Hoe Kee was decent too. we did check out the other players in the market before eventually deciding on these 2, and these 2 definitely trump in terms of variety and price.

last update for today... a photo of the very initial prep in progress, where the workers are laying corrugated paper!

and a photo of our parquet flooring. see the scratches? no choice but to fix it now. we initially wanted to leave it for a few months, but the scratches look terrible. i think the movers caused it when the sellers moved out.

Wow loving your purchases! We are aiming for Fujioh hob and hood set as well! And very interested in your Wasserbath purchases, we never managed to visit them, are they really competitive in pricing?

For the instant heater and the rainshower, I remember reading quite a few people's T-blogs that instant heater cannot use with rainshowers in HDB, something about the water pressure not high enough? Did Wasserbath/Hoe Kee tell you about it?

yes, fujioh is pretty reliable. my mom's been using it for the past 4.5 years and it's been working fine. also looks nice I found Wasserbath's pricing pretty competitive. the salesgirl gave discounts on EVERYTHING! we actually wanted to get the common toilet's basin and cabinet from there too. they had a pretty attractive one, for the basin+cabinet+mirror, only $376 or something. we bought the basin+cabinet only for $380 from Hoe Kee. but since we already chose the Hoe Kee one, we let it pass. you should go take a look at Wasser. we went to the Geylang outlet, pretty decent range.

the rainshower we got is the 'new' type - integrated rain shower and instant heater! so i think water pressure should not be that much of a problem hopefully!

Hi Scarlett, yay to starting renovation!! Wah, you have parquet floor! Just need to polish and it will be good as new. Looks like you are almost finished with your shopping.. hahaha

I also got instant heater with rain shower but from rinnai. Hope it works!

hello! yes we are almost done actually! just the ceiling fans and aircon to go. TV will come later maybe in jan-feb.. need to get our finances back up. i am interested in the Acorn brand ceiling fan. tested it at one of the shops yest and it was pretty nice. but so expensive. $300+ for the fan+light+remote!

and yes! i think we will go ahead and polish the floors. my contractor quoted $800 for grinding n polishing, so it's pretty ok. for 3 bedrooms.

that's not a bad idea! i think it's already fire-rated - original BTO door from 2002. how to relaminate? i don't want to ask my contractor now cos we plan to do it a few mths down the line after we've saved up money once again... can just contact any carpenter or door specialist i guess?

In my case, it was done during the renovation period. The carpenter had to dismantle the door. Hence, it was a day where there was no main door as it had to be brought to the factory. My original door was the old HDB fire-rated type where there was some design on the surface.

The carpenter stripped away the 'design' as I wanted a plain simple door. It was then laid with new laminate.

I believe your carpenter should be able to do it.

Why not consider getting the ceiling fans from JB? I got a Fanco with LED lights (Circolo C42" with Philips LED bulbs x2) at less than S$200. Only thing is need to drive in to JB.

anyway, reno update: all hacking done! i think today they are laying the prepacked screed. tiles have arrived too! forgot to take photos yesterday, paiseh.. next time shall do so

Expect a jam with the long weekend! I went in on Monday and was stuck in a jam on my way back for 2.5 hours. Joined the returning queue at 1.30 pm, cleared customs at 4pm. But it was worth it Edited December 18, 2015 by shpesft
