Hi all, I received a quotation from an ID for my 4 room bto standard flat which I like to check part of the prices provided whether if it is reasonable and any other ways/materials to lower the cost.

a) Master bathroom - $2400 (so expensive?)

b) Common bathroom - $2030 (so expensive?)

5) Overlay homogenous floor tiles @3.20 psf

9) Install W6ft X H3fft side filler area X D2.5ft Quartz work-top c/w back-splash include opening of holes if necessary for kitchen island - $1620 (any alternative to this other than using lower grade material?)

11) Fabricate & install 8.5ft full height built-in TV feature wall in solid plywood laminate finish - $1900 (market rate? how much it will cost for a half height instead? or even not having a feature wall and using those PVC rectangle box to cover the wires?)

I am also planning to do overlay wall & floor tiles for both my bathrooms and so far the quote i got is S$2600 (S$1900 - wall & S$700 floor) for each bathroom. But is S$2.80 psf for wall & floor.

Just doing the bathroom can cost me like S$7,840...really very expensive...as my renovation cost now is S$25k without doing bathrooms...

I wonder how to calculate overlay cost for wall & floor tiles...

Hi tkc01, most of the quotes are way above market rate. Take for example the kitchen cabinet. With that price (and abit more top up), one could go full on Blum system complete with fanciful hydraulics (not just hinges, but the ones with auto open and close systems). The designer handles are not that necessary unless you intend to go the traditional kitchen look (most modern kitchen designs go with no handles or knobs). Consider getting quotes from other ids and you would see the difference. All the best!

Hi all for the help.

As for item 6, I actually separate my kitchen into wet and dry area, Hence the length is longer complained to typical door width. Not sure if that result in increase cost?

The kitchen cabinet costing actually include the 2ft tall unit, will that quote be acceptable or still overpriced?

I believe the vanity cabinet with quartz cover is a good bargain, so far it seem to be the cheapest around?

Anyone has any idea regarding the cost of a 8.5ft bed-head? I am getting weird quote for that like $1900 and another $2400 with 10ft ledge? Need a better and clear price instead?

How much is a 5ft island with kompac-top cost? If it include storage, how much additional will it cost?

hi tkc01,

item 3,4,5 no comment as dunno ur size of floor n wall.

item 6 ,7 overpriced already including the tall unit.

item 8,9,10,11 is seriously overpriced. i think u better call my contractor, think can cut costs

quite a lot. my friend doing island also not so expensive. do compare more others.

is this a ID firm? small company tends to charge like that because 1 mth 2,3 deals good enough

already for them.

Hello again tkc01,

yup, the tall unit has been factored in. I used a slightly higher quote of $900 and after deduction it's $3555 for a 15 ft in total kitchen cabinet c/w handles.

For your kitchen door, you may wish to consider the two sliding door style (like those u see at shopping centres) for $1450. If not, the current price is still ok, but should be able to bargain lower.

The washroom vanity cabinet c/w quartz is standard price, factoring quartz at $120 pfr, unless quartz material is of higher grade.

Head boards ... personally they are generally overpriced, as they don't serve any actual purpose but to beautify the room. Went through online and seems like the cheapest alternative is DIY, or use some kind of painting or decors as a substitute. A general rule in ID quotations would be the lesser the number of customers who asked for a certain work to be done, the higher the chance the ID would raise that particular quote. Hence if you see many of the previous quotations shared here, most did not include head boards.

Kompacplustop runs at about 110 +- pfr. Used as a kitchen island, it depends on your design.

Hope our suggestions and feedback have been helpful so far!

Many thanks for the response and help!

Could anyone be able to give me a rough idea of what should be the rough price from an ID for the items I listed so that I can be more wary of future quotation. Thanks!
