Led Strips - How Many Led Drivers And What Capacity For Drivers

Recommended Posts

i intend to install LED strips for my L Box cove lighting in my Living Hall. The length is about 25 Meters. To save energy, I asked my contractor to install 2 light switches for the L box cove light so that i will have 12 meter of LED strip for one light point switch. Would appreciate advice on

(1) How many drivers should I have and the capacity for the driver ? Any recommended good brand ?

(2) I was told for 5050 60 led per meter strip, the wattage is 14.4 watt per meter . So for my 25 meter cove light this will be a shocking of 380 watt ( 25X 14.4 w). So of I switch on my full cove light, does it mean i switch on lighting with 380 watt ?? there is no energy saving .

Can some one advise me on this ? Thank you

HI

It will be much cheaper to use T5 Led tube for cove lighting unless you want special lighting colour or effect. Yes, LED strip 5050 power requirement is 14.4W per strip. typical a 5M LED strip will require 72Watt and in order not to over load the driver, you have to cater 20% buffer, that mean, you us 86.4 Watt driver for 5 Meter strip.

The driver, I recommend that you use Mean well driver which is the top driver in market. Very reliable which we use a lot for projects. Price for 200W mean well driver is about $60. For your 25M led stripe, you will need a two no of 200W driver and one 100W driver.

Hope this clear your doubt.

Thanks and Regards
