What To Look Out Before Engaging Reno Contractor?

Recommended Posts

Hi. It will be my first time doing renovation. Besides completion date, what other things must bring out or written on the contract to minimize under promised, incomplete or delayed Reno?

Thank you.

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

For renovation, maybe you want to think about how the design of your house will be, and see if they can satisfy your needs.

For example, do you need to hack down or add walls? What flooring colors or materials you want etc etc

Costing is an issue. Whether you already own the flat, or when you can get your flat to start work, when it end work and you can start moving in.

Recently had a home renovation... A lot of delays and issues, better to have buffer time. Hard to minimize the issues that may come up. But if you have the details maybe can try to recommend some reliable companies to you?

Hi. I'm also a first timer to renovation. Will not hire ID, as I do have budget, and most of my ideal look of the house will have movable furnitures which do not need to custom made.

1) I know ID firms will have installation payments for the renovation. But does contractor accept installment payments too?

2) Im only planning to custom made kitchen counter top, built in wardrobe, bed platform, and tv console. I want to know, usually when does painting of the house take place? before or after the contractors completed their work?

Hi tgmlke,

1) Contractors also will accept installment payments, but may vary from contractor to contractor.

2) It depends on what work the contractors are doing, but painting of the house should take place before furniture is in place. This prevents your furniture from getting unnecessary paint on them.

Hope that answer your questions. :good:
