redryder 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2015 At my current flat, the OpenNet point is in the living room and I connect my modem and router to it directly. My parents just bought a new BTO flat, will be renovating it soon. The OpenNet point as constructed is hidden inside a cabinet in the kitchen. There is no space in the cabinet to put a modem and router. I googled around and it seems like some people pay OpenNet to move the point somewhere else in the house, or do a trunking for the fibre cable. Seems strange that the designer will locate the OpenNet point in a place that will be inconvenient for the owner. Is this common practice?
hebronep 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2015 The location of the wireless router must be chosen to ensure that the mobile devices are able to receive good signals. Kitchen with metallic appliancesand usually separated with concrete walls from the rest of the apartment is not a place to place the wireless router.
