Home - Where Our Story Begins

Recommended Posts

Carpentry managed to start work earlier than expected, so we were busy selecting laminates after discussing the designs and layout with Nick. We have quite a bit of carpentry work including kitchen cabinets, altar, shoe cabinet, study table, wardrobes etc, so it will take a few weeks for it to be done.

In the meantime, painting will be done first, so we also had to select our paint codes. The original quote uses Vinilex but we decided to go for 3-in-1 Medifresh series for the anti-bacterial properties and also topped up additional to paint our ceilings because we didn’t want the standard Matex paint.

The problem with Medifresh paint is that it is low sheen, and for this reason it has to be painted at one go, otherwise it will be patchy when the paint dries. So it was proposed that we do the carpentry installation after the first coat of painting, and only complete the second coat after that.

After first coat painting:

Chemical wash also completed in the same week, some grouting drop off is normal. Nick say he will touch-up on the grouting before handover

After a week of installation and laminating work from carpentry uncle, here's the final results.

We think our choice of laminates went pretty well! Happy! :good:

Making use of the space behind altar by adding some shelvings:

Kitchen top-hung cabinets. We went for whitish and slightly glossy laminate to contrast with bottom cabinets:

3 years ago, we managed to get a BTO flat in a mature estate. After a long wait, our flat is finally ready and we collected the keys recently.

To start off, here's our 4-room flat floor plan.

After receiving our house keys, we excitedly went to our flat the next day to check it out. We did a flat inspection and thankfully the built quality was acceptable apart from a couple of small defects. Here's some photos of our small place, pardon the poor quality taken by my phone.

After the completion of our flooring, things are slow-moving at the moment because year-end is peak period for renovation (yes this is a back-dated entry), and we need to wait for carpenter to complete his other projects on hand.

So, in the meantime, we started shopping for our kitchen and bathroom accessories. Bought everything in a shop in Jalan Besar because we are lazy like that, and want to save the hassle of getting things from separate places.

Decided on this large double-bowl sink:

And selected an instant heater with rain shower:

Also bought other items such as tap mixer, spray guns, mirror cabinets, bathroom hangers etc.. total damage close to 2k.. *heart pain*

Hi, can I check what brand is this instant heater rain shower and how is the pressure and water temperature like? Any feedback it? TIA
