Refacing Of Kitchen Cabinet N Wardrobe

Recommended Posts

Anyone have experience doing refacing of kitchen cabinets and wardrobe? Understand that it will be cheaper to replace the doors and exterior of the laminates than to reconstruct the whole set provided the interior of the cabinets are still good.

Pls share your experience or quotes.

Thank you.

I did my previous old house. really depends on the build of your cabinets and wardrobe lo. Mine was laminated so my contractor relaminated for me. changed the hinges and door handles too, and to soft closing. I forgot the pricing cause it was quite a while ago, but it was reasonable. The cabinets and wardrobe came out looking and feeling as good as new. Better to relaminate if you're okay with the current dimensions of your cabinet and wardrobe.

Thanks Dylan, yes totally agree, it will be applicable to resale flat almost 90% of the time unless the flat does not have any built in.

The question is , does all contractor willinh to do refacing or only some specialised capenter doing it.

My feel is contractor may want to earn more by suggesting that you tear down old built in and construct new one.

My contractor was willing to do cause I always let him settle my house needs.

I think goes both way.. using logic;

1) Relaminate - Easy fast money, lesser.

2) Tear and reconstruct - Harder slow money, more

Depends on the contractor I guess? Carpenter may not necessarily charge cheaper cause they won't sell you at the price they give to contractor also; got chance earn money they confirm will. I find that the older generation contractors more willing to help cause they want to build relation. The newer generations IDs and young contractors won't really do so cause they want to chiong the big projects. Two cents worth

dunno wat u mean by refacing, but my mum place juz revarnish the kitchen cabinet doors, replace handles and change a few doors.. she say cheaper than doing up the whole kitchen as its still in good condition.

It depends on contractor. I live in Canada and we got customized interior renovation of our kitchen and bedrooms in last fall. Pretty much worth the prize. The bedford brooks design even gave us a warranty on their work and replacing doors and exterior laminates are not always a good option, for the tear and wear of wood can spoil your furniture from inside eventually leading to damage of the whole furniture including the newly replaced doors. Everything has its dead end, nothing lasts really long bro!!!!
