Badtz 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2014 Hi guys,Just want to share my bad experience with Arthur Lim from Defong Interior. As much as he gives a good first impression and good response during the quotation period and also assist in recommending suppliers for kitchen and lighting accessories, there's really limit to what he can provide.1. Partial hidden cost as his quotation is incomplete (not due to additional works on my end, but normal items that should be included)2. Slow / late in providing drawing (which is very crucial as we Chinese tends to calculate date when moving in, and we have to accept the shoddy work in the end to meet the date)3. Poor painting and sealer works (walls, doors, gate, wire casing, grout lines, casing gaps, etc, not painted properly even after reminding via email, text messages and verbal conversation by phone and face to face still not done even till taking over)4. Air con not seal up when painting and polishing is going on, in the end, my brand new air con are filled with dust particles, painting stains and hand print (they just briefly clean up and hand over)5. Air con trunking leak after 1 month of moving in, causes flooding in my room during heavy rain last week (anyhow send someone up to use water proofing sealer in the end still leak, till not have not rectify the issue and this few days keep raining heavily... and I don't even want to comment further)6. Wire casing not seal up properly (in fact, having staying with my parents at different houses for past 30 years, this is the first time I see such lousy casing with gaps, you can imagine cockroach and lizards can squeeze in through the gaps)7. Poor coordination works (missed at least 50% of the verbal datelines, btw, there's no written commitment of when he can complete the works unless we push him)8. Poor carpentry works (even though he say he is proud of their carpentry works and many has compliment them for it...) I can practically see stains and markings on my brand new custom made white cupboard...9. Poor floor trap design (HDB Officer commented may cause water leakage to the unit below, but to date, no action by Arthur Lim)Anyway, if you want to try engaging, please keep a close monitoring at the progress and his standard of work. It is partly our fault for being to busy and trust that he will do a good job as he promise. And for those newbies, electrical, kitchen appliances / accessories, furniture, etc, are not in the quotation, so do budget well to prevent getting a shock when you find out there are extra items that is not planned for. Not my standard though. Lacking pic for the leaking compressor and floor trap.
mummychua 4 Report post Posted November 16, 2014 Actually all the defects u shown are quite minor, easily rectify by another coat of paint. Understand the part abt rushing for deadline. My reno is done in a hurry, and i end up with lots of defects too, and much worst than what u shown here. Good luck

Badtz 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2014 MummychuaI can only say your tolerance level is much higher than mine... Being first hand at reno, I really can't accept this kinda standard for the price that im paying... Anyway, this is just a reference for others who want to engage them.KimsimYour's definitely much worse... But I don't see why any of us should be rectifying the job when we have paid them to do it? No doubt that settling yourself is faster, but just angry over ****ty job done by ****ty contractors...
mummychua 4 Report post Posted November 25, 2014 Badtz, not that my tolerance level is high. my contractor disappear after a few weeks after handover, he havent send me the final bill and i havent pay him the last 10k. so now its the choice between 10k and having someone touching up my very long list of defects. im leaning towards the saving of 10k. by the way my contractor is still alive, doing business. he accidentally emailed me one of his customer kitchen drawing...
